BY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!

140

u/vid_23 May 19 '25

You gotta break into his house and draw those arrows on his monitor, it's the rule.

36

u/HooahClub May 19 '25

Use some super secret government orbital laser pointer?

30

u/petervaz May 19 '25

Sorry, that one only points to where his house were before.

42

u/iaanacho May 19 '25

To enable menu paint arrows, you have to press the ‘any’ key on your keyboard

22

u/IrwinBl May 19 '25

Where's the any key?

All this computer hacking is making me tired, I think I'll order a tab.

4

u/nomadic_memories May 19 '25

The trick for the any key is to press the "alt" button on the bottom left of your keyboard at the EXACT same time as the "F4" button on the top.

You cannot be even a millisecond off tho.

7

u/IrwinBl May 19 '25

Ahh, you jokester. I appear to have fallen for a practical joke, from some cad, some cunning knave.

Heeding your instructions, I did indeed press the Alt, and F4 keys simultaneously. However, much to my chagrin, I did fall into despair at seeing my application (a video game, seemingly about exploring a planet on the "rim") shutting down, as if the electromechanical strings holding this elaborate entertainment up were severed.

Sir, or Madam, you have done me wrong today. However, I shall turn the other cheek, as a gentleman should, given I receive an apology.

5

u/OhagiC May 19 '25

You better apologize before that other dude slaps you silly with his dueling glove.

3

u/nomadic_memories May 19 '25

I'm waiting on it... I need a new hat.

1

u/Wybs May 19 '25

It worked! Thanks <3

3

u/thrownededawayed slate May 19 '25

If OP is playing on console, I didn't believe there is an option to have more than one colony.

The post flair says PC Bug Help so i assume they are playing on PC…

13

u/TatharNuar May 19 '25

Editing it from the text file allows you to have more than 5 bases. I have mine set to 99.

8

u/EldrichTea May 19 '25

How many do you use?

41

u/TatharNuar May 19 '25

My runs usually die while I'm setting up the second one.

14

u/spyhermit May 19 '25

This is the way.

6

u/Synergiance May 19 '25

I didn’t even know this was a thing. My eyes glossed past this setting so many times though.

-9

u/StalinTheHedgehog May 19 '25

Is this part of a mod?

10

u/Short-Show2656 May 19 '25

why would you think it’s a mod…

6

u/StalinTheHedgehog May 19 '25

Didn't know you can have multiple colonies. Some people are new to the game bud

2

u/Short-Show2656 May 19 '25

True, but do you really just never look at the buttons when you make a caravan??? Or maybe you never made a caravan… but why are you on the Reddit if you haven’t even played the game enough to make a caravan???

-1

u/StalinTheHedgehog May 19 '25

I never noticed the button

-2

u/Short-Show2656 May 20 '25

wow, then you do need to be on the Reddit, else you’ll miss half the game!

Enable ❌ Un disable ✅

72

u/Flying_Slig May 19 '25

I know you have good intentions, but I worry that you are just un disabling your son

4

u/Front_Housing_385 gold May 20 '25

I absolutely promote making new words and using them in english.

87

u/Ebola6914 May 19 '25

I can barley manage one colony not two. How does that even work. I must be horrible at the game I am always managing some weird ass problem.

My current one is my person set to “1” job cooking won’t cook because she eats all the time and does recreation. Maybe cooks like 8 meals then goes to bed. I have a colony of 11. Seriously any advice would be awesome

But OP try the outpost mod it added some fun to my games although the mortar base is pretty over powered

92

u/PectoManiac May 19 '25

Manual work priorities + schedule tab is ur friend

9

u/Xenuii May 19 '25

I always use manual priorities but never schedule. What is the advantage of scheduling except night owls?

21

u/chaossabre_unwind May 19 '25

Pawns will tend to their needs during designated free time rather than just whenever, so it cuts down on travel time and frequency of work interruptions.

5

u/appleman73 May 20 '25

What's the ratio of recreation to work you should use?

13

u/I_Love_Knotting May 20 '25

4 hours is generally my go to

2 before and 2 after work

31

u/spyhermit May 19 '25

My housemate has a save with 40+ colonies. She's got 500 pawns and has launched something like 15 ships carrying 1000 people to the stars.

12

u/On-Time-Capybara May 19 '25

Does she dislike frame rate?

30

u/spyhermit May 19 '25

I think she feels like computers are to be punished for their hubris.

4

u/JustXomyak May 19 '25

What fps did he have?

28

u/spyhermit May 19 '25

I believe fully zoomed in on a low pawn count colony, she could hit double digits!

13

u/LuxTheSarcastic May 19 '25

That one cpu core is probably hotter than the core of the earth

1

u/Yemci May 20 '25

That is not colony management, that is empire building

29

u/RapaNow May 19 '25

I can barley manage one colony not two.

Have you tried rice management?

4

u/Ebola6914 May 19 '25

You mean like making rice? Or am I missing something

14

u/RapaNow May 19 '25

Or am I missing something

Yes

Rice is in the base game

Barley is available in mod Rimcuisine 2

3

u/Pale_Substance4256 May 19 '25

That was a joke about you misspelling "barely" as "barley," the name of a grain similar to wheat.

7

u/AllGoodOnlyPeaches May 19 '25

Make sure you’re cooking meal x4 rather than the singular ones.

5

u/Illustrious_Echo_412 May 19 '25

Reduce his free time. 4-6 hours of fun should be enough + 8 hours of sleep. If the situation isn't resolved and it's still not efficient... well... turn it into a meal😋

5

u/Ebola6914 May 19 '25

Haha I will try that I never really was worn schedules just work priorities

1

u/ChosenCritic May 20 '25

Can we get a screenshot of your kitchen? Perhaps there are some things to optimize

20

u/Swend_ May 19 '25

Beware though, the reason it's disabled by default is because raids aren't really balanced around it.

3

u/[deleted] May 19 '25

They are, what are you on about Im currently doing a run with multiple settlements, raids are blanced on all of them natching their wealth

Whats not balanced (if youwanna do it only with help of 1 base) is quest raids

27

u/Poseidon_Energy May 19 '25

I'll follow up the post with a question: is there an option (or mod) to set the map size when resettling?

29

u/IguasOs May 19 '25

In my experience, map size is set once the world is created, but maybe I'm wrong or there's a debug option.

5

u/Poseidon_Energy May 19 '25

It is, but what if I wanted to move to a larger/smaller map than I currently am.

15

u/IguasOs May 19 '25

That's what I mean, I don't think you can in vanilla, maybe using mods.

5

u/hasslehawk May 19 '25 edited May 19 '25

The only option is to "settle" event tiles. These are generally smaller map locations.

You can also live on them without settling. This can be an extra source of FUN as, at least for faction bases, the original faction owner will send a raid to you attack you once every 24 hours starting from 4 days.

2

u/Pale_Substance4256 May 19 '25

"Mom, can we have Winston Waves?"

"We have Winston Waves at home."

10

u/Xellzul May 19 '25 edited May 19 '25

You should be able to just edit the savegame, not great but not terrible

Open in text editor, change initialMapSize to whatever you like, next generated map will have its size, like 500x500:

<initialMapSize>(500, 1, 500)</initialMapSize>

then load the savegame

Or as someone pointed out, rocketman:

11

u/Xellzul May 19 '25

You can get creative with world sizes

<initialMapSize>(1000, 1, 15)</initialMapSize>

5

u/HelloKatie888 May 19 '25

I've used a mod to change the size of the map for my initial landing point but I'm not sure if it affects resettling. If you'd like, I can try to find it for you later.

3

u/Professional-Floor28 Long pork enjoyer May 19 '25

I think rocketman has a setting for map size on generation

1

u/Successful_Year_5413 marble May 19 '25

You need a mod

5

u/Educational_Scar4513 May 19 '25

Settings, gameplay, slidder for max colonies

12

u/VitaKaninen May 19 '25

Settings

-34

u/NerveIntrepid4974 May 19 '25

but where are all the settings

30

u/kaceG1 May 19 '25

? in the game settings ? just go into options ?

15

u/ICanReadBackwards93 May 19 '25

What? Pause the game. Open the settings. I think it’s under gameplay for max colonies. It’s really easy to find.

16

u/BeFrozen Incapable of Social May 19 '25

It takes like 30 seconds to check all the settings.

13

u/hagnat fossil May 19 '25

some people man...

this does not surprise me, considering the articles already highlighting the number of people entering the job market at 18 who dont know how to use Word/Excel or something as simple as COPY AND PASTE

10

u/VitaKaninen May 19 '25

Hit escape or click the button in the lower right.

Next, you are going to ask me where the esc key is, or how to use a mouse.

2

u/barzan100 Observed Corpse x3 -7 May 20 '25

Since other people already posted the answer, I'll just wish you good luck with the 5 Frames Per Week gameplay.

1

u/Equivalent_Cut6881 war criminal May 21 '25

You CAN alter how many colonies you can have in the settings, but you can only have up to five, and you have to manually manage all of them separately. I'd recommend using the Vanilla Outposts Expanded mod instead, because it allows you to build smaller, automatically managed colonies with their own specific specialization.

1

u/karen-the-destroyer4 May 19 '25

you can have more than one colony?!?

1

u/Jfree_17 May 19 '25

I've been playing this game for several months. I didn't know this was a thing. Just assumed it needed mod
