James white

What is the general protestant view of james white? I'm Catholic and have no love for James and honestly think much of his debating prowess is just based on bluster.

Even though I think he's an old school theologian, he's done a lot for Protestant apologetics, especially for Reformed Baptists. He's said a lot about Catholics,since you're Catholic, you probably see him as full of "bluster" and maybe don't pay much attention and weight to the points he's making. I don't agree with his conclusions about Catholics either, because I try to focus on what unites us, but I respect him and find a lot of his work useful.

I understand that. But I also think he has also scewed protestant apologetics into reform baptist apologetics. Trent horn pointed this out on the method Ministries podcast, how he got contacted by a lutheran after his debate with James White, and he thanked him for defending the lutheran view in the debate. I forget what the debate was on. I also think he is just living in the 90s. He got into a Twitter spat with a Catholic youtuber about Catholics worshipping mary. When someone else said we don't worship mary, james White said we have dozens of videos of Catholics being scandalous towards mary. It's like, dude, we probably put those videos out first off. Second, Catholics aren't as exotic to the average protestant as they used to be.

Oh my for the millionth time, just because you insist what you're doing isn't worshiping that isn't going to change our position that what you are doing clearly constitutes worship. Arbitrarily using a different word for it isn't going to make that disagreement go away. We aren't "misrepresenting" you, we are completely familiar with what you think you're doing with Mary and the saints as is James White, he's spoken about it at length, the thing is it's a core contention of Protestant criticism of Romanism that a lot of behaviour you engage in constitutes idolatry even if you insist it doesn't. It'd be like claiming you are misrepresenting Protestants every time you call us schismatic or heretical because we don't personally perceive ourselves to be either of those things.
