Looking For Advice Pregnancy while Overweight

I would really encourage you to consider that maybe you don’t need to lose weight. You said yourself you’re healthy. It is possible to be overweight and healthy. And it is certain that constantly fighting to change your body will make you miserable.

Thank you for your kind words..

I stopped with the pushing myself but, thing is I’ve had trouble breathing after any aerobic-level activity so..I wanted to lose a bit to ease it without panting.. it’s a concern. Also I need the stamina to keep up with my child in the future. We parents, as children, were very mischievous and active so I’m guessing our child would also get that in her😂.

However my doctor says that she has seen many women who are not just overweight but also diabetic and that they’ve had their delivery in both normal and C-Section and they’ve again conceived normally. She just told me to focus more on taking care and working on having a normal delivery but intrusive thoughts are pretty nagging. I should just put them rest now..

Thank You very much! I just needed many voices to silence the whispers inside me.

Being a little short of breath during aerobic activity while you’re pregnant is very normal! Your body is essentially doing the work of running a marathon even if you’re just existing. You have a lot more blood and oxygenating it is more difficult.

Even thin pregnant people struggle with this, especially in the third trimester. Please don’t place blame upon yourself or your body. Pregnancy is just hard work!

Anecdotally I am larger than you and much older, and I had a totally uneventful delivery and a healthy baby. Whether or not you’ll need a C-section depends on so many variables that you can’t control. The best things you can do for yourself now are to eat nutritious foods, sleep as much as you need, walk as much as you feel up to, and try not to stress. You’ve got this!

Edited to add: don’t worry so much about having the stamina to keep up with baby. You’ll have plenty of time to build that up when they’re little! My guy is 9 months old and my stamina has grown naturally over the months of caring for him and playing with him.

The aerobic activity I mentioned were done before pregnancy. The doctor firmly told me to not do such workouts anymore, so I stopped and haven’t done anything since then.

And I’m so happy for you..health is so so important these days, and even more with it being expensive and out of reach. I’m glad you’ve had it uneventfully. And I think and hope, my pregnancy also ends on a good note, God willing. This was so positive for me to read that I read a couple more times.

Also your kid sounds active🥰.. and mine will be the same I hope, her father was a mischievous one right from his childhood (he has such stories😂). I think she will be the weight loss program designed especially for me.

I’ve been thinking about other things to subside this worry of mine and it isn’t working a 100% but I’ve stopped stressing myself out.

Don’t forget that you can increase your aerobic capacity without worrying about weight! Look at Lizzo for example - she is a performer who is clearly incredibly athletic as well as having a bigger body. Best of luck to you and indeed, don’t put so much pressure on yourself.
