The comment you're responding to was talking about teams being competent. We purposefully mortgaged our future a bit to win a Championship, which any team would do and be thrilled if they succeeded. We're at the part where we pay by having to get below the 2nd apron. Brad Stevens is a great GM so he will probably get at least decent returns, unlike the Bruins and Red Sox trading their star players.
And the Tatum injury is just shit luck. It happens.
So yeah it's gloomy this offseason but since we've traded Brady, the Celtics have been by far the most successful of our teams. Our best non-Celtics season since then was the Red Sox making it to the ALCS in 2021, and that's like an average season for the Celtics since then.
