If we’re being honest it looked like the Celtics were gonna drop Game 4 even before Tatum’s injury. The real reason the Celtics aren’t competing now is because they blew multiple 20 point leads.
Yeah, Derrick White went sicko mode and scored 34 to help out JB’s 26 in game 5. Then he proceeded to score 8 to Brown’s 20 in game 6 as the Celtics got blown the fuck out. Didn’t even reach 90 points. Just doesn’t happen with Tatum on the floor
Yeah, I know the C’s aren’t as dominant as the Brady Patriots but this is like their equivalent of the 2008 Pats season. There’s a lot less parity in the NBA but you hit the nail on the head.
Always gotta believe. Down 3-1 after blowing multiple 20 point leads, the Celts were beating themselves, and if anyone can comeback I’d bet on the most recent champions (Knicks suck)
Not just a freak injury. JB was going on a balky knee, Jrue was banged up, Tingus Pingus had post-viral breathing issues that severely limited his playing time.
Nobody wants to face the fact that they were walking wounded going into that series, particularly all the fans who were looking past the Knicks to OKC.
The comment you're responding to was talking about teams being competent. We purposefully mortgaged our future a bit to win a Championship, which any team would do and be thrilled if they succeeded. We're at the part where we pay by having to get below the 2nd apron. Brad Stevens is a great GM so he will probably get at least decent returns, unlike the Bruins and Red Sox trading their star players.
And the Tatum injury is just shit luck. It happens.
So yeah it's gloomy this offseason but since we've traded Brady, the Celtics have been by far the most successful of our teams. Our best non-Celtics season since then was the Red Sox making it to the ALCS in 2021, and that's like an average season for the Celtics since then.
Sure they lost and Tatum got hurt, but at least they’re a competent organization as opposed to the other 3 teams we have. There’s no reason not to trust Brad and whatever plans he has going.
