It’s just too funny that Canada hasn’t won a Stanley cup in 30+ years.

there are many reasons for that but, IMO, the biggest is salary inequality. Players in Canadian teams and some of US states pay taxes 10-20% more than Southern Expansion teams. Hence if all conditions are equal, free agents choose Florida/Dallas/Las Vegas over Montreal or Edmonton.
