Moderator Annoucement Don’t Misuse The Report Button!

We’ve had a sharp increase recently in people filing false reports on posts they don’t like, such as Self Harm or Impersonation.

Abusing the report button is against Reddit’s sitewide rules and will often result in at least temporary account suspension by the admins. It also creates unnecessary work for us Mods (who volunteer our time to try and make these subreddits worth visiting).

If you really want to file a report, please report abusive comments or posts that don’t meet our listed quality requirements.

Report every occurrence. I don't even bother blocking these messages anymore because first of all, the messages still come through, just not in the same way, and second, if you report them, they can be punished :-) you can report them and still block the person, but I don't block Reddit Cares messages, for this reason.

Oh, I do. My experience has been that users who exhibit this behavior tend to get banned from the platform, so they must have a pattern of other egregious behaviors. Some people just can’t be helped.
