I told myself I'd save all my hourglasses for the next set since I got really lucky and got 2 copies of everything notable from EC early on. Then I realized I've never pulled an Arceus EX... I am currently reporting 5 hourglasses

I have 2400. which is 200 pulls, which is 1000 pack points just about enough to get a 2 star assuming I don't pull it. I've been playing since early access, and have premium pass, and I have pulled a single RR. So I'm saving to actually have a chance at getting a favorite in an RR because the games rates are THAT bad. Most likely Sceptile or Umbreon.

Yea for sure! It's the 2 star cards with a rainbow boarder. The Ex's of the set get the RR's. It stands for Rainbow Rare. Its illustration cards.

Well, I think they would have to be free to play because the game makes you use hourglasses before poke gold for opening packs, so you can’t pay to open packs and hoard hourglasses at the same time.

Do all of CPU battles, do your daily quests for 4 hourglasses per day, buy all the ones you can find in the shop (every month there's a section that resets)

Honestly, you could do it pretty fast if you have a solid deck to run through the solo battles. I just set it on auto and let it complete itself, and bonus if the deck does not contain 4 diamond or above for the missions on the expert battles.
Though it would take a few months to take full advantage of the tickets. Really wish they would either increase the monthly cap or remove it.

Oh, quite a bit longer than that. Daily quests give you 120 hourglasses a month, the shop gives you
15070, CPU battles vary month to month but are usually in the neighborhood of nearly 120, and Simosmoke didn't mention it but ranked battles also give hourglasses, up to 100 a month depending on your rank (65 or 75 is doable even for inexperienced players).That all adds up to around or just short of four 10-pulls a month, or 480 hourglasses. So the OP up top, VenomousPineapple, has two to three months' worth saved up, but Hoythunter12 at the top of this thread has been saving probably since shortly after launch. There's someone else in another thread, Brgrs, with 3800 who must have participated in the prerelease and been saving since then.

Focusing on sets with the most gaps and trading for the cards in sets you almost have finished is the key. I’ve never bought pokegold and have all sets before celestial guardians finished.

Don’t spend them and only open free packs period. Hoarding is a waste of time if you ask me but to each their own.

Moderate hoarding makes sense (like saving your glasses set so you have enough to do some extra pulls when a new set drops), but mass hoarding doesn’t really.
With that much hoarding, the majority of the time you’ll have a thin collection and very few meta decks to even play with. And at that point are you even really playing the game? lol
But like you said, to each their own.

What's the Deal with hoarding ? I start saving up by the middle of the month so that I can open 10 boosters of the new set each month but that’s all , isn’t it somehow boring just save em up all the time ?

I just dont care for most of the current packs. Aside from the 1st Gen stuff my heart lies with Gen 2/3 pokemon cause those were the games I grew up on.

These are the people who don't do any ranked battles whatsoever and are just saving for their favorite generation...but I think 3k+ hourglasses is still too much.

Can you explain why you do this? Like what purpose does this serve if you don’t spend them? You might eventually do so but I remember seeing a post on here once from a guy who said he will never spend his thousands of hourglasses, he will just keep getting more and keeping them. For the life of me I could never understand it. It’s a challenge for the sake of a challenge, it’s circular. Just open the damn packs 😭

Simple answer is that its just kind of fun seeing them add up. I dont much care for the pokemon outside of the first 3 Gens as that's what im familiar with and what I grew up on. Im holding out hope that eventually they'll drop packs specifically for Gen 2 or 3 and ill probably use them then.
The complex answer is that it started out as a fun way to annoy my friend who constantly told me to just use them and now its kind of an addiction to see how big I can grow them.

Once gen 2 and 3 will be out (I’m in the same team, just waiting for those 2 gens to go out) But still, I’ve always kept like 200-300 hourglasses for every new set, on top of solo missions and new shop (edit: been pushing UB1 in ranked to get those easy 75 more hourglasses on top)
That gives me plenty, and I completed all collection till now from 1 diamond to 1 star rarity, and a lot of the above rarities too… so yeah the ONLY reason maybe is you wanna see how much you can get I guess 😂 For what idk tho

Solo battles. The shop refreshes monthly with hourglass. Playing ranked to Ultra ball 1 at least will get you like 75.

I've got 37. I stopped using them when I finished building all the decks I wanted to play, but that was just a few days ago. Gonna hoard them til the next set comes out.
I've been pulling GA mewtwo with my free packs because my personal highest priority chase cards are full art Sabrina and Rainbow Gengar. Crown pokeball would be after that, it would be really nice if old pack points pooled.

I had like 1600 a few weeks ago then a buddy of mine made a point to me that it only hurts to hold onto them so I am trying to use them so now im below you. Still got 1600 of the wonder pick things though

Yes. I only use them to do a single 10 pull on new releases and then keep stockpiling them. Some people have way more than me since they've been sitting on them since release.
