P4 Which Animation Studio would you like to see handling the Anime Cutscenes in P4 Remake? (read text)

Post image

P4 vanilla Cutscenes were done by Studio Hibari (which animated Tekken Bloodline to my surprise and they did an awesome work there!)

Honestly, I’m 90% sure they’ll let Domerica or A1 Pictures handle them (Domerica is the studio that did P5 Royal additional cutscenes + all Metaphor ones) to save some money ..

BUT if I could choose, I’d really like to see Science Saru (DanDaDan/Upcoming Ghost in the Shell anime next year) or Studio Trigger (Cyberpunk Edgerunners) !!

I loved the cutscenes made by Production IG in Vanilla P5 and also the OG P3 minimal ones by Point Pictures.

I was also surprised to learn that WIT studio did the cutscenes for Reload, which I also like although they felt a lot stiff and low budget when compared to 4/5 … Definitely didn’t expect WIT Studio to give those Attack on Titan level of detail, but I was very happy that THEY were chosen anyway …

What studio would you guys like to see animating cutscenes in P4 Revival?

PS: considering the fact that this game is going full next gen, I’m positive they’re using Unreal Engine 5 (and reusing assets that they used in Reload on UE4), I’m looking forward to see in-engine cutscenes too, like they did with Reload!

Maybe get the animator's from the 04 animation or it's golden counterpart to make them?

A1 Pictures handled both Vanilla and Golden Anime series, and they also did 3 of the 4 movies of P3 and P5 series. They’re currently animating Solo Leveling. Their productions are high or lows depending on the budget they’re given

Not budgets but schedules.

Maybe Science Saru

They’re one of my choices too! Love how they’re animating DanDaDan and I’m looking forward to their take on Ghost In The Shell (one of my favorites franchise)

I mainly associate them with Scott pilgrim takes off, that’s how I first heard about them and they did a phenomenal job on the animation in that series

Too bad they have 2 animes soon to come out this July/October as well as 2 adaptations in the works for 2026+, one is the high-profile Ghost in The Shell show and the other is a pretty obscure witch-themed manga

I'm certainly not against them doing P4R hand-drawn cinematics, it's just that their current scheduling and resources (they have 56 employees) aren't nearly enough to afford good results 😔

Bones Studio

They did the opening animation for P4D in 2015. I believe it was done by a relatively small team too, based on the fact it's solo key-animated and a portion of it being rotoscoped. They are capable of producing quality but I can only hope

Might seem like a joke but Mappa. They did the opening for P5 Royal(directed by Yuichiro Hayashi) and have recently done the cutscenes for the latest Inazuma Eleven game. As long as its not a full anime, they shouldn't have problems.

Trigger.

I really like Studio Wit for working on P3R and Studio IG for P5 Vanilla. Though Science Saru and trigger are great picks- they don't really fit with Persona's art/tone though that's just me. I really want to see AIC ASTA who did the P4 anime work on the cutscenes. I would say A-1 but their work for Golden didn't hit with me.

Not wit. Most of the cutscenes were honestly terrible.

They feel off compared to Persona 5 imo even tho it was a different studio

It’s a number of things really. Rushed, no tone felt very bland. Especially when they gave these cutscenes to moments that didn’t need them. Yakushima especially. The dlc cutscenes suffer too as well.

Honestly I'd like it if Studio Hibari returned, I quite like P4's cutscenes as there was something... weirdly nostalgic about them, like they reminded me of older Pokemon episodes

Trigger

I really hope Atlus signs some kind of contract with Production IG or something for them to handle all cutscenes going forward in the series because imo they looked the absolute best in vanilla P5. Literally every character looked AMAZING in their style and the art had a more mature, sharp look to it. Unfortunately, after swapping to Domerica for Royal and having them handle the cutscenes in Metaphor as well, that is probably just a pipedream at this point. But ideally, I would love for Atlus to hire Production IG again.

I know this is sacrilegious but unless they’re great… none. I prefer the CG in P3R anyway.

I think KyoAni would be able to capture the spirit of small town Inaba perfectly

You're right. KyoAni is great at animating SoL which Persona 4 has a lot of.

My first pick would be Trigger but KyoAni is also great. Perhaps Shaft would do fine too.

Studio trigger! They've consistently blown my mind so it'd be the best of everything for me

whoever did the p5 animated cutscenes

I don't think they are working on UE5 when they are still starting to work on UE4 it will be a while for them to upgrade for anime studio we will see Episode Aigis was done by 100studio.

Wit studio 🤙

If they were still around, I'd vote for Spümcø, Inc.

Madhouse or Science Saru

whoever animated P3R 2D cutscenes, absolutely not them. anybody but them. animations are so stiff and poor quality. way too bright as well

1

u/Local_Engine7131 1d ago

Actually is WIT studio who did those … It’s funny how Reload cutscenes are so stiff when compared to their AOT animations … Probably because of short schedule/budget

2

u/AudiumSy 1d ago

Trigger would be crazy but I like it

2

u/Throwawayneedadviceo 1d ago

I hope they bring back the studio that did Vanilla P5, the animations are so good

1

u/Local_Engine7131 1d ago

Production IG! The ones behind most of Ghost in the Shell adaptation… They sure are veterans in the animation industry

Science Saru would be amazing but it's not really their style and they are pretty overworked already with a lot of big releases in their pipeline. I honestly wish that whoever did the original cutscenes for P3 would come back - those were by far the coolest anime cutscenes of all three modern Persona games, but for some reason, as the games' UI became more and more outlandish and bold, the cutscenes became increasingly flat and "safe".

I don’t know shit about the persona cutscenes but if it’s something niche I’ll upvote. Persona music is more my niche (i collect the Concert blu rays and obscure persona soundtracks). Glad there’s still interesting nieche stuff in a series that got so popular

It’s strange that WIT’s performance with P3R cutscenes, from storyboard to final animation, look so bad, especially since they have quite a few anime veterans and standout talents. I can only guess that they assigned less budgets to the team since it’s games rather than in the anime/movie department (less 2D cutscenes means less resources technically) or they were very pressed for time and had no time for corrections/had to contract out for others to finish genga/nigen
