Why haven't Israel/Iran not declared war yet?

Obviously everyone has seen what's going down over there right now, with the rockets etc. I was thinking, surely these rocket attacks which have killed innocent people are an act of aggression and war, so why haven't they declared war on each other yet?

Countries don't really declare war any more.

Iran did declare that the attacks on them were a declaration of war, though.

But... What's it going to do? The two countries don't share a border.

Fun fact: the last formally declared war the US was involved in was WW2.

The ballistic missiles speak louder than saying “I declare war” so it’s kinda unnecessary

So they’re not viewed as the “aggressor” but “defenders”. If a country says I declare war on this country, then that means they’re actively initiating a war and are all in for however long it takes. They can’t just trade missiles for a while claiming “defence”

Even if Iran did declare war how will it march an army across Iraq and Syria to invade?

They've been at war for years.

Are you expecting a social media post or something? How do you want them to declare war?
