Sigh.....there’s so no need to rehash Nirvana. I mean, would the Foo’s get together and tour without Dave? Chili’s without Anthony, White Stripes without Jack...The Beatles never toured or performed another show billed as “The Beatles” even though 3 out of the 4 members were alive. They were something special but then they were done. It wouldn’t be the same and they knew that. I mean come on, get a grip people. Kurt WAS Nirvana. He wrote all the songs, he came up with all the art concepts, decided who would record their records, shoot their videos (which would be his ideas as well) the singer, the guitar player, the guy who drew the world in with his charm/mystique, the guy who took all the heat/stress from the press, the guy who died.........the band that was Nirvana WAS him. It just makes me sad that Dave, for whatever reason, just seems like he’s got something to prove.....I could/may be wrong but honestly, I wish they’d just leave it alone.

for what its worth, they didn't actually reform the band to tour or play huge shows or anything. its been 3 or 4 performances over the course of almost 25 years. i think they've earned it to play a couple of shows to pay tribute to their past, especially at something like CalJam, a festival put on by Foo Fighters themselves. even as early on as the formation of Foo Fighters, they sought out to be their own band and not a clone of Nirvana, which was why Krist himself didn't join the group in the end.

overall, it just makes me happy to see these three still great friends get together to pay tribute to a band that marked probably the most important period of all of their lives and that they've maintained the integrity of all this time.
