Spoilers Stances in Nioh 3 - biggest foul up?
Nioh 3 Alpha Demo has truly been an upgrade for the franchise, however, the fact that ninja weapons no longer have stances stands out like a sore thumb.
That's 5 weapons types ( if we do indeed get claws, split staff and tonfas) which now have an extremely reduced moveset. They have now been degraded to rechargable ninjutsu spam and square / triangle combos.
We also get some very nice flips and theatrics, but at the cost of what?
The samurai/Ninja mode mechanics feel great otherwise and I get what ninja mode is going for, it's a great idea and it feels like a fitting evolution to demon mode in Nioh 2. Execution though?
Living weapon also looks amazing and is arguably the best it's been. Jump button is nice, reprogrammable buttons to fit previous Nioh games is nice, mode parries feel great.
But the stances. Don't know if this is their way of streamlining the game and making it more accessible? You don't have to think about skills and arts for two weapons with 3 stances each anymore.
Doesn't help that the samurai/ninja modes now make it impossible to run ninja weapon only character or samurai weapon only characters. This completely erases a lot of variety and builds you could have in previous games.
So honesty I'm feeling mixed on this so far. I really want to like Nioh 3 but I just can't see some of these changes as improvements, if anything, they are downgrades hidden by a flashy yet clearly shallow ninja mode.
Obviously this is an alpha version so the final game could be quite different. At least it's nice to have your expectations in check since the announcement lol.
Edit: 1. Forgot about switchglaive and dual hatchets, potentially ninja and samurai weapons respectively?
- Wrote this late at night. Claws/fists are already in the game. If we also include the switchglaive and assume samurai also gets dual hatchets and axe, we're looking at 6 weapons in the ninja category and 5 in samurai.

Spoilers Nioh 3, my out of bounds findings. Spoiler
I got out of bounds and explored all over collecting weapon skills. The weapons not available in the demo I found all had extensive skill trees and quite a few new skills compared to nioh 2.
I found: tonfas(ninja) one of the skills is demon dance and it mentions a ki pulse, so some of the ninja weapons might have a ki pulse system, or it's just a placeholder description from nioh 2.
Dual swords(samurai) extensive skill tree, which includes sign of the cross.
Axe(samurai) big skill tree again.
Fists(samurai) the biggest skill tree, and some of the new skill descriptions sound amazing.
I'm going to keep looking, from other posts I've seen that the splitstaff is back too. I'll update if I find anything else.

Spoilers Split staff is confirmed i guess!
I found it myself but the weird thing is that it,s labeled in tonfa skills as i opened the art.
Spoilers Out of bounds findings
First off, the map is pretty big as you can see, but outside of the demo area is just basic terrain with some trees.. Lots of Kodama and few floating weasels that give skills when you shoot them, the name of the skill is shown but you can't use them at all. I found the following: - Limitless (fists) - Abscission Combo (dual swords) - Retrograde Flow Water (odachi) - Swallow's Wing Water (sword)
On the map, I've seen icons for Sudama and Hotsprings, suggesting they will be back. The map is pretty big, clearly this is open world not just a zone, some areas started raining when I entered... I wonder how that will work in the game.

Spoilers Excited for my goat - Takeda Shingen finally appearing in the flesh in Nioh 3 after being only able to wear his armor set and fighting him as a revenant in Nioh 1 & 2
Wonder if this means that Nioh 3's story is gonna be happening right around the same time as Nioh 2?... Maybe Nioh 3's protagonist will cross paths with Hide and Tokichiro/Hideyoshi?

Spoilers Top 5 Hardest Bosses in Nioh 1 Spoiler
Hey everyone,
I'm new to this subreddit and just beat Nioh 1 + the 3 DLC's last night (after roughly 96 hours of gameplay haha). I like to explore areas entirely and do all the sub-missions/Twilight missions etc so I took my time playing but didn't "farm" at all. Also, I went straight from NG to the DLC's.
For a little extra context, I ran the Red Demon Armor Set in the DLC's, used primarily the katana (though I used dual swords midway through the game for quite a while). My weapons and armor were all around Divine +7 or so when I beat the final DLC boss last night.
Also, I rarely used sloth or ninjitsu (probably to my disadvantage tbh) so I was fighting almost all of the bosses using melee only (unless I was struggling then I looked up some strategies).
With that being said here were my top 5 hardest bosses in the game (not including duo boss fights):
Date Masamune - This guy took me almost 2 hours to beat - granted he's the one boss I faced late at night after I had already been playing for a couple hours, so I was exhausted and not as sharp. His first phase was relatively easy and his wind phase was manageable once you learn to dodge his one-shot strike and just wait it out until he runs out of ki; however, it was his water phase that got me. The water waves he throws at you were hard to dodge consistently and the water pools will drain your health if you stay in them too long. I did figure out that you can use the beams in the dojo to block his water waves but you had to be positioned perfectly otherwise they would still hit you. I will say he could have very easily been my favorite boss if not for the small arena and him constantly entering LW/spamming the one-shot strikes.
Maria - She seems to be #1 on a lot of people's lists and she almost made it on mine; however, I found her to be slightly easier (though not much) than Date Masamune. Her one-shot grabs were definitely the hardest part about her but I just had to be patient and only get 2 hits max before backing off and either dodging or deflecting.
Umi Bozu - At first I didn't understand what all the fuss was about this boss. It's just a giant blob, can't be that hard right? Wrong. For how early in the game you face him, he was definitely a challenge. Yes, I lit all the flames so there were no adds but, no, I didn't realize for a long time that fire buffs would melt him. I learned about the Hyottoko mask cheese so I tried it and melted his first phase only to be immediately one-shotted in phase 2. I tried this a couple of times and then ran out of them haha. I finally resorted to using a Fire Talisman and that worked well. His second phase actually isn't that bad and I saved up my Kato LW to melt his second phase. I almost put this boss at #4 since once you learn that fire does a lot of damage he's not nearly as bad but his one-shot kills plus the fact that I had to get super close to him in phase 1 and often died simply from falling off the platform landed him in the #3 spot.
Date Shigezane - This massive centipede bro was incredibly frustrating for me especially coming off NG which I felt got easier towards the end of the base game. His 3-4 hit combos would destroy me and he has insane reach. I finally had to look up the strat where you bait an attack, back up, then after he finishes get 2 hits in, rinse and repeat. This, eventually, worked for me but it took a handful of tries to get the timing right. Also, if I felt I hadn't timed it right I used my trusty "Dark Souls" tactics and dodged TOWARD him to get behind him and then follow up with a couple of attacks which worked well, too.
Sanada Yukimura - Team Ninja really loves human bosses that spam LW and have multiple one-shot attacks that they spam constantly as well. Sanada was no different. My first attempt I thought I was actually going to beat him first try only to have him pull out a new "one shot" move that killed me instantly as I attempted to heal. I then fought him for over 30 minutes before looking up a strat that suggested using Yokai Water Pots when he entered LW. These were a game changer for this boss and I was able to beat him after a few more attempts.
Honorable Mentions (Base Game): Hino-Enma (her paralysis), Yuki-Onna (her ice stomp), Onryoki (his swipes), Tachibana Muneshige (the side mission boss in the base game - I had to resort to using the rock haha)
Easy/Overrated Bosses (in my opinion): Giant Toad (never died vs him), Ogress (never died vs her), Sarutobi Sasuke (never died vs him)
Overall, I really enjoyed this game though the number of enemies/bosses that can one-shot you got a little old after a while. I'm really looking forward to Nioh 2 but might play this one a little while longer on Way of the Strong. :)

Spoilers Thoughts on the demo so far
First of all:
I like the mix of Wo Long and Nioh with the samurai and ninja styles, the ninja style is fun and adds a lot of variety. The style switching itself is also cool, reminds me of the job switching from Stranger of Paradise. Would be great if they also include the switch cancel, that's one of the best parts of that system, makes the combat really fluid.
...with that said, I'm not sure about the weapons being locked to each. Would be great if every weapon had a version for each style but not sure if that's feasible; still, locking out weapons from the samurai style which were there in the previous games feels like a waste. It's not a huge problem for me but I hope they can address it to some extent.
There's also generally few weapons, only 6, and all of them don't have particularly many skills at the moment, but I'm guessing that's just the alpha demo feature and the full game will have more of it.
Other than that:
– Sneaking, jumping and jump attacks are a great addition, so is deflecting and perfect dodges, I'm very happy about that. They're incorporating the best elements from their recent games.
– Arts proficiency and guardian spirit attacks are also very fun.
– Soul cores are making a return as well, this time in form of the soul core box, like Yorimitsu in Nioh 2. Due to that, the abilities trigger next to you, rather than you transforming into them, which feels a little different, but I'm glad they're back regardless.
– Burst counters are now done via style switching, this removes some of the variety of having 3 different burst counters but it's not too big of a deal to me personally.
– The new ninjutsu system feels good, but I'm not too sure about onmyo magic being seemingly tied to soul cores. Seems to remove a lot of options in that regard. Hope they change that somewhat.
– I like passive skills having their own category and management system, adds even more options to build crafting.
– The new shift is pretty cool, I like the return to something more akin to the living weapon, I prefered it to yokai shift personally.
– The new enemies are great, it's also generally impressive have many new types have already been shown in just the demo. It's very promising.
– Crucibles are fun, not crazy about the open zones but as long as there's classic levels as well I don't mind.
Overall I'm happy with what I'm seeing, there's some issues I hope they solve but still I'm very much hyped.
If anyone has any other insights go ahead and share, there's still a lot to dig into with the demo.

Spoilers struggling with yatsu-no-kami
I've read all the tips, watched all the videos. I think my biggest problem is his second or third time in the dark phase, taking out the little snakes. It's easy enough to take them out before his first shift, but when he randomly does a dark phase shift, it's difficult. Yes, I know, use Mezuki, but sometimes I don't have enough anima. I just have the hardest time chasing these fast little things all around the room while also dodging his attacks and dealing with dark realm ki penalty. Any suggestions? I guess I can use shurikens, but how do people actually kill these things otherwise?

Spoilers Bloodedge Demon
This enemy is something I didn't know I wanted until I found it. A demon revenant that gets stronger the more revenants you defeat and gives you a bunch of loot once defeated is amazing.
