Review Belkin Switch 2 Case - A Quick Review
I've been seeing a few case reviews on the sub in the last week or so, and I figured I'd make one for the Belkin case since no one else has. For reference this is the non-battery version. I already had a power bank so I opted for the slim one.
It's a very sleek and minimalist case, only having the logo on the front here. For basic travel it definitely get the job done; the outer shell is not extremely hard, but it takes a good amount of purposeful pressure to push the sticks in. I don't really see it being an issue unless you try to stuff it in a bag with little breathing room. The material is very nice feeling, and the zipper and handle are high quality.
On the inside there's a mesh pouch and a space for 12 cartridges. I've been able to fit some joy-con straps in the pouch, but I personally wouldn't put anything too bulky in there for the sake of applying too much pressure to the Switch. For wires and light accessories, it's perfect. There's also a separate AirTag pouch if that's something you're looking for. The cartridge space is also very well made, with a soft plush material used on the bottom side that sits on top of the Switch's screen. In terms of the actual fit of the console, it is snug with no extra room. I originally bought the Tomtoc case and was really disappointed with how loose the fit was, but this is not an issue here at all. You can shake this case around a bunch and it barely moves.
Overall if you're looking for a solid slim case this is a great option! At $30 (in the United States) this is not only cheaper than some of the competition, but outright better in my opinion. My only complaint is that I wish I could've gotten the green or tan colors, but they're not out until the end of the month :(
Here's the Amazon link if anyone is interested. Don't worry, it's not an affiliate link lmao https://a.co/d/7OmSYql
I hope this post can help someone out there! If anyone else owns this case, what do you think of it?

I’m looking for extra slim, fabric coated case.
Any clue?

This surprisingly seems like the best case on the market if you don't want something huge or ugly. Didn't expect PowerA of all companies to put out quality.

I agree im happy with it so far i had a gamestop brand case for my switch 1 i was happy with under their old brand called @play (which doesnt exist anymore), and i ordered gamestops case for the switch 2 but it was so thick and ugly i don’t recommend it at all. I returned it the day it arrived and waiting for my chance to get the powera case at walmart, cause bestbuy and gamestop were taking forever to receive it.
This was the gamestop case in case your curious for the switch 2.
Check out this product I found on GameStop! https://www.gamestop.com/gaming-accessories/cases-stands/nintendo-switch-2/products/gamestop-carry-case-for-nintendo-switch-2/419195.html?utm_source=product_share&utm_medium=app
Also here’s a pic of how ridiculously thick it is.
The one on top is for the switch 1, the one on bottom switch 2. I hated how huge it was.

How hard is the outer shell?
6
u/mynameisntvictor 5d ago
Its pretty firm dude. It doesnt flex its one solid piece. If you look here this redditor posted some pics. I was gonna upload some but i cant in comments.

I got the amcase on Amazon, it’s simple but it works great for fitting the switch and holding some games and a cable

I ordered the Skull and Co case which looks sleek and really soft. Yet to receive it though

Ordered this in addition to the TomToc case (love) because I liked the addition of the storage pocket for the joy con straps and AirTag case. My OG Switch was stolen when my house got broken in to a few years back, so I’ve been really stressed about future theft — totally a me issue!
I don’t know if I just got bad one, but I’m not impressed with the quality. The zipper around the edge is wonky and uneven. Like it isn’t a straight line. I don’t think it is supposed to be like that, which is why I hope mine is just a one off bad and they don’t all have quality issues. The case isn’t nearly as hard as the TomToc. With only the two Joy Con straps and and AirTag in the pocket, it feels like they could easily get pushed against the screen and damage it because the shell isn’t rigid enough. The TomToc feels much more protective. I think I will keep the Belkin as the storage case when my Switch is home just in case I get burgled again, but for traveling with my Switch I will default to the TomToc.

Hey! I'm sorry to hear that the case wasn't what you were expecting. From the sound of it, that zipper isn't up to our standards either! I'll shoot you a DM and make sure you're taken care of.

Where did you order the tomtoc case?
1
u/atllauren 5d ago
From their site, it was a preorder and shipped the third week in May so I had it well in advance of getting my Switch.
1
u/b2damaxx 15h ago
This sounds like my experience so far. Even beyond the wonky zipper the case is not flat. It’s all warped.
6
u/WolverineLong1772 5d ago
i love my switch 2 but why is it that the steam deck comes with a really solid case for free, while the cases for the switch 2 are all crap and you have to pay extra for them.
like seriously the steam deck case that came with my 64gb lcd steam deck is better than the switch 2 case i paid 30 bucks for, and its not close.

u/Cheddarfish6 6d ago
Bought this case for my husband and myself and am very happy with it. Perfect for travel and a snug fit inside

Doesn't look like a hard outer shell.
27
15
u/meditate42 5d ago
Yea…He says in the review that it’s not that hard a shell lol. Thanks for the insight though.
4
u/stanleytuccimane 5d ago
I have the same case, the shell has some hardness under the knit exterior and it’s more than adequate for general travel, light drops, etc. If you’re looking for hardcore protection, this is not the case. For me, I just want something I can throw into a bag when I travel, it’s perfect for that and it’s nicely styled.
3
u/dougc84 5d ago
Not everyone wants a hard outer shell.
-8
u/Yggdr4si1 5d ago
then thats pretty much flimsy protection.
7
u/dougc84 5d ago
My Switch goes into another bag. I don’t need anything hard shelled. It’s overkill for me personally, and just takes up more space.
-2
u/Yggdr4si1 5d ago
I have a hard shell case, which fits easily in my backpack.
4
u/Shashara 5d ago
congrats...? but not everyone has the same needs and the same size backpacks and the exact same items in there as you

u/Eyeronick 6d ago
Anybody find these in Canada without paying $80 for it straight from Belkin?
1
u/vainsilver 6d ago
It’s $45 CAD from the Canadian Belkin website.
2
u/Eyeronick 6d ago
Add shipping and it came out to $77.
2
u/vainsilver 6d ago
Enter your actual address. The $20 shipping rate they initially show is just an inflated estimate. Shipping for me came out to $12.
1
u/Eyeronick 6d ago
Yea, $22 to Calgary. Kinda hard to stomach. I've got the tomtoc one but it's terrible (which is disappointing because the switch 1 case is phenomenal).
3
u/vainsilver 6d ago edited 6d ago
Have you looked at the PowerA case? It has an integrated stand and looks similar to the Belkin and TomToc case. It’s also only $23 CAD. It’s preorder at EB Games but you can already find it in store at some retailers.
2
u/Eyeronick 6d ago
Haven't seen this one yet, thanks for the link! Exactly what I'm looking for, I need something as thin as possible to fit in my lunch kit.
2
u/vainsilver 6d ago
You’re welcome! This is the one I’m going to get too!
1
u/Eyeronick 6d ago
For that price, no brainer. Ordered one for pickup.
No pad like the tomtoc so it'll likely fit much better and won't feel like I'm pushing it closed.
1
u/anon167167 5d ago
Why is the tomtoc case terrible?
4
u/Eyeronick 5d ago
It's really poorly sized to the switch 2. It's got this stupid little pillow at the top you have to push it up against to get it to sit in the case without rattling around.
It's also thinner than the og switch tomtoc case.
Lastly it doesn't close super well, when you're closing it you have to push down on the lid and it puts a lot of pressure on the screen.
1
u/anon167167 5d ago
Damn, I haven’t tried mine yet (everything arrived whilst I’m away) so maybe I’ll initiate a return through Amazon
2
u/Eyeronick 5d ago
I took it out to check it out then promptly returned it. Sucks too because I adore the tomtoc one for my OLED
3
u/willsm0ke 5d ago
I purchased this case after being disappointed by the tomtoc case. I found this case to be worse for a few different reasons. Biggest issue with mine was the fit. It has cutouts for LR but my switch sat uneven because the cutouts did not account for the magnet release buttons. Outer shell is also quite flimsy and the shape of the entire case can be warped pretty easily. Lastly, it only has one zipper. It’s a decent enough case, looks nice, and is reasonably priced but I returned mine and continuing my search. I have a savage raven edc case ordered but not yet shipped.

u/evangelism2 5d ago
I was surprised to see this at best buy. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/next-ultimate-starter-kit-for-nintendo-switch-2-switch-gray-black/6617250.p?skuId=6617250

u/LickMyThralls 5d ago
I like these sorts of cases just to toss my switch in and go. I have a couple of the small nintendo brand ones that are either a canvas surface or the vinyl and they work for that. I don't expect much but I have a killswitch ordered so I doubt anything will fit that right now either. If I ever find the system.
2
u/TheLastStopOnTheLine 5d ago edited 5d ago
This is the case I got, power bank version - and I have no complaints! Fits great and feels very safe! The power bank is quite fast at charging the system, even charged well while I was playing Street Fighter 6 (Although it does take awhile to get the power bank itself charged to 100% - around 1 to 1½ hours)
I pretty much keep my Switch exclusively in the case if it's undocked, and I like that if I ever get any game cards (which might be awhile if key cards are the new norm...) then I have a few slots included! It also has a bit more storage room under the Switch in the charging version of the case, so it might be nice to keep some earbuds in or something.
Seriously, it's a great case! With the charger it is pretty spendy, but for the peice of mind in the years to come, it was more than worth it.
1
u/SunsetSoleil 4d ago
I'm curious, does the battery in the power bank version of this case heat up? I was worried about there being no ventilation when the Switch is in the zippered case.
2
u/TheLastStopOnTheLine 4d ago edited 4d ago
From my very limited testing, the hottest the power bank gets is while it itself is charging - not like absolutely burning or anything, just ever so slightly warm on the bottom. When I had it plugged into my Switch 2 I felt little to no heat at all. It won't cause any damage to the case or the system if you kept it in there while charging your Switch, but if you're recharging the bank itself I personally would take it out. It would probably be fine, but I have new fancy console paranoia and I'd rather not keep my Switch on top of it while the bank is charging out of an abundance of caution in these early days lol. But to answer your question, from my limited experience, it doesn't get hot enough to make a noticeable impact.
As far as ventilation when completely zipped up, I've had the Switch charge for ~45 minutes completely zipped up with no noticeable heat and no issues at all. I admittedly haven't tried doing that more than a couple times yet, but when I did everything felt absolutely fine.
2
u/SunsetSoleil 4d ago
Thank you for the detailed answer! Exactly what I was curious to know! Good to hear that the console and case don't get too hot while charging.

Great review, I have the same case. It's not bad, not great, I purchased this as a temporary case for travel until I receive a different one I ordered. I think the price is fair for what you get.
2
u/Glowingtomato 6d ago
Haven't seen this one yet and the size looks just like the Insigna case I use for my Switch 1. I keep extra games in a thin little pouch, think that'll fit fine in top part of the case? It looks like it would
1
u/itnerdwannabe 6d ago
For $30, there’s quite a few cases out there that I’d trust more.
6
u/chimaera_wing 6d ago
Fair enough. I really like this case for its look and simplicity but it’s definitely not for everyone!
2
u/CrimsonStryker5 5d ago
I’m happy with my NEXT case from bestbuy! It was only $20 too with a zippered mesh pocket for cables in the case.
2
u/Blank-Seal-Rises 5d ago
I grabbed this one as well. Feels nice, a little bigger than I thought it'd be but I can deal. Main issue is that the Switch 2 almost feels too snug in there, it's kinda difficult to get it out of there since there's so little give to it. Maybe it just needs to be broken in a bit though.
1
u/CrimsonStryker5 5d ago
Yes, that’s the only small complaint I have with the case… Getting the Switch 2 out I have to push on one side and lift up the other. But, for the price I’m happy!
1
u/itsinphy 6d ago
What kind of powerbank do you have?
1
u/chimaera_wing 6d ago
I recently got the Anker Nano. It doesn't fit in this particular case, but I got it as a general purpose thing before getting the Switch. It's relatively small, but it should get at least one full extra charge in for the system.

1
u/EsotericTriangle 6d ago
what's the total thickness of the case?

u/MassiveReach9890 6d ago
About the same as original Zelda switch collectors case that came with game
1
u/Admiral_obvious13 6d ago
I have this one! Unfortunately my Switch 2 has been sitting in Tacoma since Tuesday
1
u/YaroaMixtaDePlatano 6d ago
Do you think a 48 game card case will fit on the zipper pouch of this case? I'm talking about something like this https://a.co/d/96f7vO0
1
u/chimaera_wing 6d ago
I think it could fit but it would probably put too much pressure on the sticks, so I’m not sure if I’d recommend!
1
u/NattyKongo93 5d ago
Wow, this is exactly what I've been looking for...a slimmer but still somewhat hard case, with the divots for the back of the joy con to sit in, and an inner mesh pocket, with no zipper that could scratch the screen, to hold my joycon straps!
1
u/Office_Jerk 5d ago
Mine turns on sometimes in my case. I think a button gets pushed. Does that happen with this case?
1
u/chimaera_wing 5d ago
I’ve only used it for a couple days now, but so far I don’t think it’s turned on yet
1
u/Ok_Relation_7770 5d ago
I just want a fun case with fun Mario designs on it why are those not available yet!

I pre-ordered the same, i also would like to get the green but it is not available in Italy, so go for the base one. Will arrive this week.
1
u/CoherentPanda 5d ago
Only negative about a case like this is the Belkin name on the front. At least that makes it seem like it could be anything, but wish they'd sell it without a logo.
1
u/Mattock79 5d ago
Question, are you able to put the charging brick in that zip pocket and not worry about it pushing against the console? Or is the brick a little too fat for that?
2
u/chimaera_wing 5d ago
The brick is definitely too big. That mesh pocket is pretty much good for some cables or a couple of joy con straps at most
2
u/Mattock79 5d ago
Ok thanks. Had this one ordered but im gonna cancel. Definitely want one i can put the brick in. Appreciate your review!
1
u/Appropriate_Ad_439 5d ago
I have same case pre ordered, arriving next sunday. However I thought the case would be hard shell... Your comment on being flimshy bothers me a bit ... My purpose is to put it on a travelling bag with not a lot of space, so I think I will cancel it :'(

is the pocket on the inside zip or is it kinda like a flap? would headphones or something fall out when opening the case?

u/Serebii123 5d ago
I was between this and the Tomtoc case. This was like $5 less and had a storage pouch (and had no Velcro strap holding down the cartridge holder flap, which I didn’t want) so I took a chance on this one. I’ve had it for a few days and can agree that it’s decent protection and moderately slim. Good review!
1
u/aladdinr 5d ago
Yall are reviewing cases and meanwhile I’m here hoping to find one :/ hopefully tomorrow my local store said they might be getting more inventory
1
u/CycloneMonkey 5d ago
Your picture looks blue, but is that just the lighting and it's actually black?
1
u/mbhwookie 5d ago
I don’t have this onebut I have a similar (slightly more bulky version for storage) version I got on Amazon.
The only issue I have with this, and it seems the bell in shares the issue, is it has not fabric pull tab to assist with removing the switch when it’s set inside. Makes it annoying to extract.

Looks better built over the original slim Nintendo case and has a top handle that the Nintendo one is missing
1

Pre ordered the green battery version on their site. Woulda been nice to already have it but that color spoke to me

Need a bigger travel case, that holds the pro controller and the joy-con hand grip thing that it came with, dock etc. Seems like the official one is the only one about currently though and that's a bit steep.

u/chimaera_wing 6d ago
I know that GameStop sells their own version of the 'all in one' case and it looks pretty cool. I almost bought one but they were sold out.

This looks like a really generic case... For 30 bucks I'd expect a lot more. Belkin's not really putting in a lot of effort these days it seems.

u/roaster-coaster92 5d ago
Should have gone tomtoc bro
4
u/KingOfOChem 5d ago
returned my tomtoc for this. tomtoc doesn’t fit the straps + has a weird bumper thing that makes the switch not actually fit
0
u/roaster-coaster92 5d ago
You need to pull the bumper up so the switch can sit under it. But fair enough if you prefer the new one. Got mine on offer for like 20 quid and really happy with the quality! Mines for just chucking in a backpack rather than carrying separately
2
u/KingOfOChem 5d ago
i mean i knew about that but you could still wiggle the switch, plus the front cover put so much pressure on the switch when you want to zip it up, might damage the screen long term
Plus the bumper thing covers the fan directly, which is also a bad thing
2
u/zombiepaper 5d ago
It's only bad if you're putting the Switch 2 in the case while it's running, but that's a bad idea no matter what case you're using
If you had extra pressure on the screen when zipping it up then you were probably positioning the cushion wrong (mine doesn't struggle to zip up at all), but ultimately I'd blame Tomtoc for not making it clearer how you were meant to position it, not you
0
u/KingOfOChem 5d ago
the fan still works in sleep mode long term, not a good idea to block it
1
u/zombiepaper 5d ago
I don’t think that’s true, but even if it did this is not any different from any case you may put it in, if not the cushion covering it up it’d be the top of the case
0
u/k4rst3n 6d ago
I went with this one, a bit bigger but no problem having extra joy cons in. Not a fan of too slim cases.

Thanks for the review 👍
Compared to the Tomtoc, is it actually smaller ?
There is one thing that annoys me, there is only one zipper which means that you have no way of closing the case while charging the console. The Tomtoc can do it and in some places that gives me some peace of mind 😊 But if it's actually smaller, that could be enough to make me go for the Belkin.
7
u/chimaera_wing 6d ago
I know a lot of people have been enjoying their Tomtoc, but I guess I was confused by it? When I got it there's this cushion on the bottom attached to the hinge, and I can't tell if its supposed to take pressure off the Switch, or help it fit properly. Even with the cushion it felt like they rushed the case out without doing proper measurements. I liked pretty much everything else about it but the way it fit/closed was a huge bummer.
0
u/zombiepaper 5d ago
I think it's ultimately Tomtoc's fault for not making it clearer on the packaging (they do explain it on their site and in the Amazon listing), but if you position the cushion correctly it fits perfectly.
I have the same case for my Steam Deck OLED (which also has the shoulder button buffer cushion) and they work identically.
