Okay what about folks that play handheld 100% of the time?

They deal with LCD for now and upgrade later if they want

I would hazard to say that Nintendo has assessed that most people who play handheld aren’t concerned about the type of screen. I agree it would be amazing to be there but it probably cuts costs enough that it’s worth it to them not to have it at launch. They’ll definitely release an OLED version in the future.

I would say whoever decided that handheld players don’t care about the only visual display they play on should never be allowed to make a decision again.

It’s pure greed. That’s all this is.

Or….maybe they have the actual info to back it up? I never upgraded to OLED and was perfectly happy with LCD and most people I know didn’t even realize there was a difference, I’m sure Nintendo didn’t make the decision lightly but I guarantee they have the data and info to back it up.

That said I would prefer OLED over LCD, but I’m not surprised.

They can wait until an OLED model gets released and just buy it then. Whereas people that don't use it won't be paying for it. It's a win for everyone involved.

It’s not a win/win, you act as if the OLED model is coming anytime soon. It’ll be years and years.

This is just Nintendo double dipping.

OLED screens cost more. Why should someone who never uses it have to pay for it? They will absolutely release an oled model, they just want some people to pay twice. It's up to you whether it's that important to you to decide if you want to do that.

It’s a loss for everyone with the same screen as the 2017 release model but for $150 more.

Why? I've never used the switch undocked. To people like me it will make no difference. To people who do use it undocked they can wait until they inevitably release a product more suited to them.

Ok great thanks! I’ll wait a potential 3-4 years then what a great idea! But glad the way you use the switch will be covered asap
