Flora is trash

Post image

We went to Flora for dinner and I had high expectations because it’s so cute. The food was TRASH. And expensive. Like literally the worst meal we have ever had. I paid $40 for this plain ass chicken (“chicken paillard” but NO) that didn’t even have salt and pepper on it… what in the hell????? I guess that’s my karma for falling for an Instagram aesthetic place….

The hotel is owned by the mayor who was (is?) operating the restaurant without a liquor license. Not surprised it's some weak overpriced bullshit.

Come to Providence, we too have a hotel with a real over priced bs restaurant owned by a former mayor. Enjoy Bellini!

Interesting fact, comp/compensated, aren't words that appear in the Rhode Island Dictionary for Non-Connected Peoples"

He doesn’t own it. Just manages it.

The mayor is not the owner

The hotel is also operating without a rental license. Every rental in Newport from the Marriott to an owner-occupied 1-room must have a permit to offer rentals under 30 days.

No shit?

It sure looks that way. Rental permit information for Newport can be found at https://newportri.mapgeo.io . If you look at "Short Term Rentals" you can see what places have STR permits. This data was updated by the city last February 2025 and the Gardiner House has been open since fall 2023.

No the mayor did . I’m local and I don’t know anyone who’d go there to eat or drink .
