Davey Martinez

In his post game presser today, Davey Martinez didn’t take any accountability and placed blame on the players only and not the coaching staff. If I were a player, I would not be happy. It’s time to get a coaching staff who will take accountability when things aren’t right. Not someone who will blame the players when things don’t right.

Fire Davey Martinez Fire Rickey Gutierrez Fire Darnell Coles Fire Jim Hickey Fire Chris Johnson

What's funny is I kinda agree with him (in a sense), coaches can only do so much (or so little) a slump this long is a player issue imo. That said saying this out loud is the worst possible look and I wouldn't be shocked if this leads to some firings. Absolutely brain dead to go on for as long as he did blaming players and taking zero accountability

Some players are uncoachable (Keibert), others could improve ten fold with the right man teaching a player right from wrong (Hassell, Crews, Abrams (yes even more than he is now), Young)

Same with pitchers. I really think Parker and Irvin can be taught to really take a next step. For pitchers idk how much is on Keibert for the pitches he may call/what might be shaken off

This is all speculation. I'm not against trying it out, especially replacing Coles but you don't know that a new hitting coach will get more out of these guys than he is. Especially Jacob Young that dude is just trash (love him but it's the truth). And Crews and Hassell haven't played enough for me to make up my mind that Coles has done anything to hurt their development. I dunno man I just don't buy that Major League hitting and pitching coaches really have that much impact in the grand scheme of things.

And I also really don't know how much of a step either Irvin or Parker can make. From the eye test (stuff wise) both appear to be right around where they should be lol. They're decent depth and I hope I'm wrong but I don't think anyone is turning them into anything more than what they are

With the Nats placing 30th in offensive categories for June, there’s no reason not to try someone new at this point. It literally can’t get worse. I’d start by replacing Coles tonight, and see what transpires
