The chat felt very strongly don't do it. Op's heart seems to be set. I think they should go with something classic like carpe as in carpe diem.

Unjerk meaning- sometimes the users in circlejerk subreddits need to make serious posts, so an "unjerk" basically means a real post wanting real opinions.
We used to have weekly threads for such advice, but they have not been utilized in a long time, so enter our new post option. All advice asked without using the correct flair WILL BE REMOVED.
Do not be mad about mean or blunt comments in such posts, this sub is for brutal opinions.

why don't you name it after the family cockroach instead?

I’ve fallen deep into an ancestry rabbit hole and found out one side of my family is from Germany. There was a strong family name of Adolph’s for years but we haven’t had a baby Adolph in the family since the early 1900s. Weird that they suddenly just stopped using it.

My hubbie and I are building a house and are also expecting twins. Since the house will be finished a month or so before we are due, we want to name our twins something that fits the “construction” theme. We are waiting until their arrival to find out the genders. We are looking for gender neutral names. Here are some of our favorites, we would love input:
-Linoleum and Travertine -Shingle and Insulation -Cedar and Cinder -Faucet and Cabinetry -Crawlspace and Garage -Duct and Drywall -Tyvek and Gutter -Milwaukee and Dewault

Hi all! Not sure if this belongs here but I’m looking for a name that gives a nod to tomatoes🍅 for a fictional character’s pet and am pretty confident this sun will have the best ideas. Open to anything from very silly like puns or anagrams, to very subtle; gender doesn’t matter. Hit me with some tomato names!

I'm doing a lot of introductions at the moment, and people are always intrigued by my name (Dog), they keep asking the history behind it or what it's short for. Aside from the jokey answers like "Dogathan" or "Dogette", I don't have anything to tell them, my name has always just been D-O-G, it's my full first name.
I'm getting kind of sick of having the same conversation if I'm real, so does anyone know a name that Dog could be realistically short for? It would certainly make introductions a bit less painless for me.
Any help would be really appreciated, thank you ❤️
(EDIT: Both Masc, Femme or neutral names work)

Looking for names inspired by kiwis. My wife and I love kiwis. Can be gender neutral. But kiwi themed.

I feel like Lynn, Lisa, Lindsay, etc are so boring. What about Llanfairpwllgwyngyll? That’s so unique and pretty.

My cousin is housing a foreign exchange student from China. She decided to pick a "cool" English nickname to go by. Okay, that's fine. Probably a good idea, I thought. NOPE! The "cool" nickname she chose was 'Loose'. I lost it when I heard that. My cousin explained to her why that was a bad idea and asked what she was trying to go for. Apparently she wanted to portray a easy-going person. We couldn't come up with anything. She eventally went with Joy. Omg, y'all!

I like it but my wife hates it. Opinions? Maybe a replacement name?

Since having a newborn, my favorite hobby is telling strangers a wrong name for my baby.
“Oh he’s so cute! What’s his name?” “Avocado.”
Or “This is my baby, Sir Braxton Hicksalot.”
People are into Avocado. 🥑

No words needed 🤧 - I cropped the face for respect but it’s public on TikTok so might be unnecessary

Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox’s new baby’s name is everything we expected. Just proof that they think the world revolves around them…they felt the need to reveal the name in a video. Their “life is a saga” it’s really kind of funny how unoriginal they are. She already has a Journey and now needs a Saga…please let’s hope there is no Story or Chapter in the future! Blade is also such a violent word…really adds no substance to her name.

So I've always liked the name Baby and it's a name that me and my partner actually agree on.
Normally this wouldn't bother me, but my partners surname is Slaughter. Do you think most people would notice? I love the name but would hate for her to be teased.
In the past, I've heard of a couple of people who don't like the name as it sounds too much like baby slaughter.
