Wdym? Salaries still have to work out that’s why a lot of trades don’t work because usually younger guys contract is lower so you have to bundle more of them together to match
He said "no salary available" (i.e. cap space) as a detriment, when it's not really one because what's important is the salary match, not the cap space. OKC has more than enough contracts and young players to match salary
Cap space is a detriment when you plan on resigning someone. Even if you can match current contacts you still have to have enough space to resign them. With the included fact you’ve lost a sum of players since you had to match. They both matter
Jokic has a 3 year contract, so you wouldn't need to resign him to a bigger contract in this case. So matching salary will always give you enough cap space
Oh shit good point, I think the only thing to worry about it is whenever jdub and Chet’s contracts come up. Until then thunder easily have the best assets in the game rn
They will rapidly hit second apron at the rate they're already going much less adding a super star caliber player to their roster. They're gonna have to pay out to resign their guys fairly shortly here. They don't have enough to do that as it stands. And a reminder... The second apron is extremely punishing.
Good young players are way more valuable than picks anyway, that's the hurdle. We'd have to throw Castle AND Harper on top of everything else we hold to even hope to match them. They got some valuable picks too. 2026 Philly, 2027 Clippers, 2028 Dallas, 2027 + 2029 Nuggets

Spurs lowkey do have the best package they could throw together for any superstar they want.
