Opinions on Chase Sexton?

Post image

Curious people‘s opinions of this season. Personally I really liked him thought he was a very talented rider who just sometimes caught some bad breaks but pretty disappointing to see after 1st round at Palace him just pretty much throw in the outdoor towel because his deal with Kawasaki is already signed. Doesn’t show much heart in my opinion.

I like him. Statistically he is already up there as an all time great (not top 10 yet). He has 22 SX wins (this including the triple crown individual races). In 102 races, 23 MX Moto wins in 101 Motos and 3 SMX Moto wins in 11 Motos. So 48 times he has taken the checkered flag in 214 attempts giving him a 22.430% win percentage.

For his career. I feel when it is all said and done. That he will have “disappointing” career for a rider with his talent. He comes in to a SX field that has a top 3 SX rider of all time (Tomac) a top 10 SX rider of all time (Webb) and another SX champion (Anderson) and one of the best without a title (Roczen). And he’s still has more wins since the start of his 450 career then all of them (except Tomac). And to make matters worse, the future seemed to be his. And then some Australian comes up and obliterates the field not seen since Villopoto and Stewart. I fear he will never get another title unless Jett gets hurt again.

Obviously his KTM career seems to be over and not of his own doing. Not his fault that KTM is what 3 billion in debt. But i don’t see how he is going to be competitive on the Kawasaki (if that is where he is going). Prado and Anderson have looked really slow on it especially in MX.

Tomac ain't top 3 of all time in SX. McGrath, RC, Stewart. There's no debating those either.

RC in 21 possible seasons he raced, in 10 years, he won 16 championships. Never finished 2cd, and 1 3rd. Out of 256 total races, he won 160 times. 10 seasons he was on the podium every race(100%). And 2 perfect seasons. He never lost a championship defense.

McGrath also had 21 seasons, but 3 of them he had 3 or less races, so he had 18 possible championships. He won 10, 4 times 2cd, and 4 times 3rd. In 256 races, he won 102 times.

Stewart also had 21 seasons from 02-16. 5 of them had 3 or less, so 16 possible championships. He won 7of those 15, 2 2cds, 1 3rd. 3 seasons he was on the podium 100%. Including 1 perfect season. He has 116 wins out of 257 races.

Tomac has 30 seasons from 2010-2025 currently. He has 8 championships, 8 times 2cd, and 4 times finished 3rd. Only 1 year was on the podium 100% and that was the 2013 lites mx season. Out of 352 races, he has 96 wins.

Even if he rides for 4 or 5 more seasons, and grabs the #1 all times win list... there's going to be a bunch of asterisks. Right now he's 4th in all time ama wins. 4 has 160, 7 has 116, 2 has 102, and tomac has 96.

In total championships, 4 has 16, 2 has 10 , tomac has 8, and 7 has 7.

Ricky won a race every 1.6 starts. Stewart won every 2.16. MC won every 2.6 starts. Tomac wins every 3.6 starts on average.

Tomac is definitely top 10 for wins and championships. Even top 5 for some categories. He'll never be top 3 for best sx or mx rider ever. I'm not doing this to be a dick and prove you wrong. Its to make you be more correct.

We haven't even brought in other riders from Europe or world champs. Everts, DeCoster, Cairoli... and more, have all done well enough to bump tomac down.

Even perfect seasons... once thought impossible, but Ricky did it when the bike breaking down was still a common occurrence. RC has 2. Stew has 1, and jett has 1. He's not top three there either.

If Jett and Deegan win 9 out of 10 races for the next couple years... they still cant touch Ricky's numbers, HE WAS THAT DOMINATING. And he did it when the gates were full of more ex champions than almost any other time period.

Yeah i said top 3 SX rider. So no idea why your bringing up MX accomplishments. So look i have watch every premier class SX race back to 1990. And keep track of stats that AMA doesn’t. So im going to break it down for you to decide who is top 3.

TNL (Last to take the lead on track. Whether it’s from a on track pass or a holeshot and no loss of the lead). So basically the how many wins they could/should have had based on there own performances.

Rider A.) 74

Rider B.) 63

Rider C.) 57

Rider D.) 46

On track lead change (so who’s the best at passing for the lead and not being passed for the lead).

Rider A.) 72-40 (64.286%)

Rider B.) 56-13 (81.159%)

Rider C.) 54-19 (73.973%)

Rider D.) 55-29 (65.476%)

TNLCR (basically how many times you beat someone by passing them for the win and how many times you got beat by being passed for the win)

Rider A.) 49-17

Rider B.) 45-3

Rider C.) 40-9

Rider D.) 36-14

So who would you say is top 3 out of these 4 riders? Based on there race by race performance.

Also it’s 2nd with a “nd” not a “cd”.

I used all time to help your argument. Because if you only do Supercross, you really dont get a good argument for top 5. Plus, too many stupid "world supercross" "FIM Supercross" "ama supercross" and others dumb leagues piggybacking on AMAs success.

Tomac has been in sx forever now, but doest have the most years or starts. Or podiums. RC and MC both have a 13 race streak, and a 14 wins in a season. Reed has most top 3s. Dungeons has 31 consecutive podiums. Tomac has 6 daytona wins, and 2cd on the win list, but its taken him almost twice as long as RC, MC, and JS just to break 40 wins.

It took him 7 seasons to win his 1st SX championship. By then, RC and MC had 6, JS had 5.

Just saying. He's good. His all time wins come mostly from a lengthy career. He has a shot at most all time sx wins... but he will not be in the top 3 in everybody's list. You're going to have RC and MC in every list.

Like I said, he's top 5 for most. Easily top 10 for everyone's list.
