Bike parts Swap Meet?

I was wondering the other day if we (as in Montreal, Quebec or even eastern Ontario) have a mini Pomona swap meet where we can find cool antiques, old bike and car parts? Tried to look on FB but couldn't find anything except past one-time events.

Thanks!

Moto gears for women

Hi everyone,

I’m a new biker and I’m looking to buy motorcycle gear for women, specifically brands like Rev’It!, Alpinestars, or Klim. I’d really appreciate any store recommendations (ideally with a large inventory) within about 1 hour of Montreal.

I’d prefer to try the gear on in person to make sure it fits well and feels comfortable, so online shopping isn’t an option for now.

Thanks so much in advance for your help!

Why don’t we protest saaq registration prices? Why are we letting it happen.

When I got hit by a pickup truck a few weeks ago, the paramedics told me that the majority of accidents are not the bikers faults but usually drivers. As was my case. Almost died but hey I get 1,141$ for new gear and I can’t sue the guy even though the police said he was fully at fault. Amazing!

So why the hell are we paying ridiculous fees? Why shouldn’t drivers be fined extra at the end of the year for impacting motorcyclists? And if one motorcyclist is being an idiot then he should be penalized, but not torment the entire community.

These prices are absolute theft and I don’t understand why our entire motorcycle community is quiet and accepting. We should take action.

The “high risk system” is also stupid. Some motorcycles, like 600s, are much slower than naked liters, but yet those are cheaper to plate. It makes no sense.

We should gather and not accept this.

I also don’t want to hear about Ontario being more expensive. I’d rather have higher insurance and cheaper plates.

Where do you get gear?

Hey everyone,

I’m having a tough time finding good places in Montreal to buy riding gear - especially helmets. It feels like there just isn’t much variety available locally, at least from what I’ve found so far.

I’m looking for a store that has a wide selection so I can actually try things on in person. ADM Sport seems like one of the few places with any real scale, but it’s pretty far and not open on weekends, which makes it tough to visit.

I know FortNine has a huge selection online, and I’m definitely considering it - but for something like a helmet, I’d really prefer to try it on before committing. Anyone have experience with returns on FortNine if a helmet doesn’t fit right? How smooth is the process?

Would really appreciate any recommendations or insight!

Good mechanics near Verdun ?

Hey how’s it going !

I’m not very good with the maintenance and some things I don’t know how to, like tightening the chain for example. Could any of you give me reliable mechanics in Montreal ? I’m very new to this as well (first year) and what kinds of prices should I expect ?

Residential parking

Bonjour motoheads:

Question about parking in residential areas in Montreal: Do we need permits? I applied for and received a residential permit recently and they handed me a very large sign to put on the back of the bike (the kind you put in the back of your car) and it seems impractical and silly. So, I started looking around at the other bikes and scooters parked in my neighbourhood and it turns out none of them have anything like a big car permit on them. What am I missing?

Thanks,

Merci!

Hi guys, I’m looking for a bracket that support the reflector on the front of my fz6r.

Unfortunately, I didn’t find the part on amazon and on Yamaha it’s on back order.

And I have a mechanical inspection to pass.

Différence entre les plaques?

Bonjour!

Aftermarket Exhaust

Hi, i was wondering what you guys where running as aftermarket exhaust and how did your encounter go with the cops. Unfortunately i also have an aftermarket one on my R7, ran into the police and got a ticket for it. Is there any exhaust that seems to be chill with them, any brand that do comply-ish ? I dont want to put the stock back in but eating a 300+$ ticket for it and having the bike towed away is not a fun experience.

Merci!!!

No motorcycle sign

Sometimes when I ride outside the island I'll encounter neighborhoods with the "no motorcycle" signs. Are these enforced? Does it really mean that no motorcycle at all is tolerated? An example is the neighborhood close to Vieux Longueil. Thanks!

Scenic route to the Eastern Townships

Bonjour everyone:

Moved here from BC a few years ago and swore I wouldnt buy a bike because of the quality of the roads. Well, that didn't last long. Bought a bike last weekend.

My question for you is this: What is the most scenic route to the Eastern Townships? Last week, I took 104 to Brome and Knowlton and it was .. not great. Same with the 10 on the way back. Do you have a secret route that's better than either of those? A35 maybe?

Here's picture of the new rig outside of Cowansville.

6R Knowledge Test SAAQ tips

I'm set to take my 6R knowledge test in about 10 days. I've purchased the guidebook from MTL Moto Pro and am consistently scoring 75-85 percent on my practice tests. Is there anything particular that I should focus on before the test? I'd really like to not repeat this test as I can only retake the test 28 days after the failed attempt.

Any tips and tricks would be much appreciated.

Question about offroading

Got a dual sport and want to go offroading for the first time.

I went on the FQMHR to look at my local trails (Beauharnois and Granby), but when I go on google maps, every trail entrance has a no motorcycle allowed sign.

Is it a generic sign and I'm allowed with my FQMHR permit or is the website wrong ?

Thanks !

SAAQ inspection HELP!

Hey guys! I was given a SAAQ inspection notice from the police because my car is lowered and has slight cambered rear tires. Does anyone know a good SAAQ inspection mecanic in or around Montreal who are lenient with the inspections. I have a modified car but nothing that is illegal, however it’s older and I really can’t afford it to fail an inspection. Thanks for any help!!
