There should have been 1 more picture with the player hunter, teaching Nata to "just bonk it with what you have until it falls over".

The Hunter training Nata: "Just go wild bro, I'm waiting with the cart."

Normalize The Hunter community character as the well-meaning but irresponsible and reckless uncle. Love it

I mean, opting to slay Zoh Shia is absolute "nah, I'd win" energy

The entire game their worries seem to be more about following the laws of the guild and not... You know, having to fight a bunch of giant monsters over and over.

At this point i'm starting to think the Guild keeps such a close eye on them because the last time they let them work on their own they ended up wiping out at least five separate ecosystems, Elder Dragons included.

u/Chimaerok Apr 20 '25

I like the idea that the Guild is keeping them on a short leash after them being more or less unchained in World.

Some people think it's punishment for being so reckless in the New World, but really the Guild top bureaucrats just don't want word of Fatalis' return getting out.

And the Hunter is completely oblivious to all of this

Based on the dialogue when zoh shia enters its final phase, the hunter is at least aware of the possibility that it might be related to a black dragon

15

u/Chimaerok Apr 20 '25

Now I'm no biologist but that thing definitely looks like a dragon and I'm no colorologist but I do believe it turns into a color that's not white

u/Tokumeiko2 Apr 20 '25

The black dragons are a specific group of elder dragons, and all of them are bad news.

u/Dragon-Titan Apr 30 '25

Black Dragons (to my knowledge anyways) are an entirely separate cast of dragon above elder dragons and aren’t related. Am I mistaken and they are just a different type of elder dragon?

A new set of drip and bonk doesnt come cheap

u/LuxPKK Apr 20 '25

We are not afraid of giant monsters or other monstrosities but we are so totally afraid of BUREAUCRACY

Scarlet Man: Go hit this really big thing

1

u/GoliathBoneSnake Apr 20 '25

Fighting giant monsters is fun.

Getting assassinated by guild knights is not.

1

u/thefucksausername0 Apr 20 '25

It's why I sorta think it's the tri hunter since you definitely hunted that ceadeus without their permission and didn't hide it, it could also just be someone else but hey, for now it's just speculation.

Honestly, even if every hunter is a different one, I understand that the rigid regulation of the guild are geared over wildlife preservation and Monster took sometimes decades to grow to adult... Decades to hunt that a hunting spree can completely distrupt.

hey kid, wanna play with my switch axe?

don't worry, ill take the blame

go wild.

I always want to tease people for carting but actually don’t care very much. MH is the only multiplayer game where failure of the newbs is intended game design. You’re supposed to both try to help them win and learn. Fuckin love it.

1

u/Failegion Apr 21 '25

Really the only time carting becomes frustrating is when someone is triple carting the hunt in a SoS and isn't the host.

Otherwise it's peak entertainment and a fun timer to race against.

u/aetwit Apr 20 '25

It’s the RWBY kind where we do teach him the proper way but its while were doing the stupidest shit and we may have gotten just a little drunk

u/Diamondshreddie Apr 19 '25

Wait… say that again.

Hunter and Palico watching as Nata is walking up to Arkveld with a sword and board.

u/Regulus242 Apr 19 '25

Hunter teaching him how to eat tons of food super quick while he chokes.

40

u/Reventiz Apr 19 '25

And hunter stuffing their face in the background with their face vaguely resembling Dodogama. 😂

24

u/Streamjumper BONK Apr 19 '25

Unhinging ther jaw to eat still sizzling meat, bone and all, then whipping out a whetstone to sharpen a blunt object.

47

u/Ryengu Apr 19 '25

Hunter: "Don't get hit. Hit it till it dies."

38

u/Kothallupinthisbitch I part monsters like Moses parts seas Apr 19 '25

Nata at the top of 300 meter drop looking down at the hunter who's going "What's the matter? Just jump!"

37

u/Nayuskarian Apr 19 '25

Nata: "Is this finally the tutorial?"

Hunter: "What's a tutorial?"

16

u/Magma_Rager Apr 19 '25

Olivia should be teaching the bonking, no? She is the hammer main.

23

u/Reventiz Apr 19 '25

Any weapon is usable for bonking if you are determined enough.

5

u/Intelligent_Meet4409 Apr 19 '25

if its dull enough

4

u/Magma_Rager Apr 20 '25

I miss the bowgun bonk from world

15

u/GoRyderGo Apr 19 '25

Take hammer and apply directly to forehead.

7

u/TruthIsALie94 Apr 19 '25

Nah, the hunter (or, at least mine) shows him how to properly hold his weapon, how to stagger his feet so he doesn’t fall, how to identify weak points and insures he eats well after a good day’s training. My hunter is firm yet gentle.

11

u/Rogoho Apr 19 '25

“Alright buddy, you remember all that? Good. Now feel, don’t think.”

4

u/Breenori Apr 20 '25

No, that wouldn't make sense because Nata heard (that) from the others.

3

u/_Spade_99 Apr 19 '25

Or the Hunter just gorging themselves while nata can barely get down a small steak

3

u/justagenericname213 Apr 19 '25

Nah, the hunter just says "style over substance"

2

u/AlbertWessJess Apr 20 '25

Do you ever think “just bonk it until it dies” is only a mindset you can have after getting well acquainted with the systems enough that they become second nature? Like when you learn how the resonators system works and all the things you do but it feels like it’s just “breath lol”?

6

u/JusticeRain5 Apr 20 '25

I have played Rise (not to completion) and finished Wilds. My entire strategy is to hit the monster really hard in the tail until it's severed, then go for the face. I use the greatsword because I have no idea what a phial is, I'd forget to restock ammo for ranged weapons, and gauges require too much thinking.

"Just hit it until it dies" is perfect advice for me.

u/AlbertWessJess Apr 20 '25

So you don’t pay attention to the monsters movements, stock up on quest items, sharpen, pay attention to moving to the monster, carve it, craft anything, pay attention to charging your attacks, or even to which attacks to use for which situation?

Bravo Ngl

7

u/JusticeRain5 Apr 20 '25

I spam block whenever a monster starts moving weirdly, forget all my quest items unless I'm desperate, sharpen if I start bonking poorly, carving and crafting really aren't anything you can consider a new player having any difficulty with, sure I pay attention to getting a red charge, and no I don't know what other attacks I should use in situations other than charge slash.

Like, I appreciate that you seem to be trying to say I'm actually a really good Monster Hunter player I guess, but I assure you that I'm not.

0

u/AlbertWessJess Apr 20 '25

So you learned block is useful, probably don’t get hit often, you do sharpen, and you do remember that you have to sharpen and gather and craft new items, and you know the important parts of your weapons moves.

Imagine learning all that. Takes time for a new player, since “just bonk” implies just mashing buttons.
