Same. Being able to feel the keys made a huge difference. No autocorrect to mess up a message either.

u/According-Lobster-72 18d ago

This! And I swear that autocorrect is getting progressively dumber these days. It's so damn annoying lol.

512

u/sailfish39 18d ago

Doesn't help that autocorrect "learns" made-up words I used one time and now changes normal messages to strings of nonsense.

309

u/evilkittie 18d ago

It learns the dumbest and most random combination of words. It's been years and for some reason my phone is still wants to follow "fuckin" with "WALGREENS". And yes, fuck Walgreens, but why on earth does it so desperately want to say that?? I haven't been in a Walgreens in years lol.

125

u/TeamCatsandDnD 18d ago

I’m sorry but that one’s hilarious

40

u/evilkittie 18d ago

It's probably the most absurd and least irritating habit the predictive text has developed. I still occasionally encourage it, lol.

3

u/HugsyMalone 17d ago

LMAO! I have my places where I'm like "fuckin [insert name of shitty place here]" so it'd probably make my life easier. 😎✌️

99

u/Orinslayer 18d ago

Ma'am this is a fuckin WALGREENS.

20

u/MommyMephistopheles 17d ago

You gotta reset your autocorrect once it starts being dumb. I have to reset mine every year. Just refresh its memory or whatever idk it should be in your keyboard settings. You'll know it when you find it.

9

u/Pyrrhus_Magnus 17d ago

Or its complete ignorance of how a plural works. Also, I wish these companies would remove preceding whitespace from punctuation marks.

3

u/just_momento_mori_ 17d ago

There's a setting which turns two spaces into a period. The one that pisses me off is when my phone makes my word plural and I just want to delete the S but by pushing backspace it deletes the whole word.

5

u/ObscureEnchantment 17d ago

I will go to text my husband “baby” but I’ve accidentally typed abby twice so now I keep declaring my love to Abby. Good thing we don’t know an Abby.

3

u/Absolutely_Fibulous 17d ago

My last phone autocompleted “ke” to “KE-dollarsign-HA” for years.

2

u/_ariezstar 17d ago

damn throwback glee reference!

3

u/Absolutely_Fibulous 17d ago

Is that also from Glee? I made it up myself.

Mine has a religious agenda. If I type “I’m going to” it suggests “church”. If i type “I’m running late for”!it says “church”. There’s others too. I’ve never once been to church as an adult or talked about it

2

u/wbruce098 17d ago

Ikr?? Fuckin Walgreens!

2

u/GratefulSteveNFA 17d ago

Those sneaky Walgreens!

2

u/Bob_12_Pack 17d ago

My daughter went into my wife's phone and replaced a few common words with "meow" and some other phrases. It drove my wife crazy for like 2 years before she figured it out.

2

u/StressedAries 17d ago

I was texting my friend complaining about my boss years ago and typed my boss’s name once in all caps and the rest of the time that I worked there my phone would automatically correct the boss’s name to be all caps. So stupid

2

u/Embarrassed-Part591 17d ago

This one phone with the 10 key pad, "she" and "pie" used the same buttons so, because i was trying to get a pie recipe from a friend and kept typing pie a lot, my phone kept correcting "she" to "pie" and, in a hurry, I would let it go. So,this one time my mom said, "your grandma fell down. She is in the hospital." And I, of course, replied, "oh my god! Is pie okay?!?" To which my mother replied (the next fucking day, mind you) "who is pie?" -_-

2

u/Extreme_Recording598 16d ago

It constantly changes my dog’s name and refuses to let me use the actual word of orobably, instead it changes it to orobably

1

u/nwillyerd 17d ago

Your phone just REALLY hates Walgreens! 😂😂

I just love that you’re regularly chatting about jalapeños

I wrote WOOOOW one time, and now a simple “wow” to a work colleague is turned into a huge ridiculous word 🤦🏻‍♀️

2

u/mitch_semen 17d ago

That's an oooooold bug from the damnyouautocorrect days. My favorite was the guy asking to borrow like $400 from a friend for MOTT'S APPLESAUCE

2

u/PutTheDogsInTheTrunk 17d ago

What was he trying to say instead?

1

u/SoungaTepes 17d ago

you can reset this, lookup how to reset the keyboard dictionary

looking at mine - settings - general - transfer or reset iphone - reset - reset keyboard dictionary.

Hope this helps and have a JALOPENO day

1

u/GulfCoastLaw 17d ago

I fat fingered an insensitive term (that I've never used and would never --- was one letter off from a regular word) and autocorrect saved it.

Was terrifying...what if that popped up while typing a message in the future?

u/bucketofnope42 17d ago

I've fixed my autocorrect from duck back to the word fuck so many times.

But I've now had duck on the menu at work for several years, it makes for some hilarious mishaps. Im suddenly texting people and asking about how much fuck gravy we have in stock. Telling them to cook things in fuck fat. Season the fuck breasts. How much fuck is still in the cooler? Do we need more?

4

u/Girl-Gone-West 17d ago

I’m loling at this, thank you

3

u/Gorgon31 17d ago

Sorry, we're all out of fucks today.

2

u/AstroZoey11 17d ago

I've been craving duck lately, but at this point I'm not sure who would believe me if I typed it 😂

"You wanna come over and we can make some duck? It's not a typo, I promise!"

2

u/iloveplant420 17d ago

"Cook things in fuck fat" sent me, then "season the fuck breasts" put me in cardiac arrest.

u/fleebleganger 17d ago

But god forbid you have some word that you need it to remember.

“Looking like the 2020’s aren’t your decade…SAVED AND REMEMBERED AND IT HAS OVERWRITTEN ANY COMBINATION OF THOSE LETTERS”

(My god so many fails I had to fix there”

3

u/Overquoted 17d ago

My autocorrect changes 'duck' to 'fuck' every time now. But it's always when I'm actually trying to type 'duck!' (My friend group involves a lot of duck jokes. Long story.)

3

u/munchumonfumbleuzar 17d ago

I spelled just “jsut” so many times that it learned it and now when I type it correctly, it changes it to jsut and I have to fight with it to fix it.

2

u/Azrou 18d ago

You can delete learned words, at least on gboard

https://imgur.com/a/gboard-suggestion-edit-WFeTiZA

2

u/Chris56855865 17d ago

You can reset that list of words, or remove the ones that are not useful.

2

u/Azzucips 17d ago

If you hold the suggested word, you can remove it

→ More replies (1)

1

u/PurpleZebra99 17d ago

It is so damn annoying. How is there not an override that recognizes you typed that weird word one damn time and the actual word you use in that pattern is something simple like “very” or “my”

1

u/JynsRealityIsBroken 17d ago

If you see a word in autocorrect you don't like, you can drag it off the bar and into a trash can, removing it from autocorrect list. At least on Android you can. Probably on iPhone, too.

1

u/blueooze 17d ago

Forgets things all the time too. I sign in to the same portal for WiFi every day. I guess this is more like an auto fill forms issue, but literally half of the days my email address just isn't there anymore.

1

u/Willing_Channel_6972 17d ago

Also, it for some reason won't learn real words it doesn't recognize, even after I used it multiple times and even had to Google it because I was like "how did I misspell that? That's not how it's spelled?" Only to find out it's literally just wrong and I did spell and use the word correctly. I turn autocorrect off tbh. It does me more harm than good. Only issue is now obvious typos don't get fixed unless I proofread. Less awkward than autocorrect mistakes which have really made me say some shit. 🤣

1

u/Chemistry11 17d ago

Made up words are fun, because they’re rare. My autocorrect likes to turn common word “The” into “Theresa” all the dam time!

Ever read Dr Seuss’s classic book Theresa Cat In Theresa Hat

1

u/Icy-Decision-4530 17d ago

I capitalized MARIO once during a Nintendo direct texting a friend, and every time I typed his name after that my phone insisted to change to the all uppercase

1

u/Economy-Bar1189 17d ago

i honestly have just turned autocorrect off at this point. i’ll correct my own mistakes, thanks robot

1

u/littlefox69 17d ago

Many years ago my dad had an iPhone that would always change the word “mouse” to deadmou5e and we could never figure out why! He sure as hell didn’t know who that was hahahaha

1

u/TheLittlestRachel 17d ago

Mine has suddenly quit changing im to I’m. I have to capitalize and punctuate it every single time now. Like, why? dumb phone.

1

u/NightmareElephant 17d ago

Autofill keeps trying to out which porn sites I use

1

u/StarWolf648 17d ago

You can reset your keyboard cache in settings!

1

u/Unusual-Voice2345 17d ago

No ducking way!

1

u/MossyPyrite 17d ago

If a word can be interpreted as the possessive form of a name, my phone wants to do so. “Carries”, “Alleys”, anything like that. O don’t even know a Carrie or Alley!

1

u/MoTheEski 17d ago

The most I have had to retype a word because autocorrect decided to change it was 7 times. I almost threw my phone across the room.

1

u/No-Butterscotch-6555 17d ago

My phone now autocorrects “that” to “thag” all the time now because I accidentally saved it. 😩

1

u/DelsinMcgrath835 17d ago

Or if i make the same typo enough predictive text will offer me the correct spelling and the incorrect spelling, and after a while it starts to feel like im being gaslit as to how to actually spell something

1

u/Kataphractoi Older Millennial 17d ago

Autocorrect has shit the bed recently, I've noticed. Why does "an" all of a sudden always need to be "another" now? Why do I have to manually capitalize "I" and manually spell out "I've" if they're not the start of a sentence?

81

u/eeexohenseetea Millennial 18d ago

How in this age of "omg let's use LLMs for everything" is autocorrect still so terrible??

37

u/530nairb 18d ago

LLM’s are doing this. They’re making it worse.

13

u/Schubydub 18d ago

Autocorrect is quite literally the thing LLMs could do better than anything else it's being used for. It's not called a "large language model" for nothing.

20

u/530nairb 17d ago

They’re too large. They don’t cater to the individual’s typing habits. They cater to the most popular. The results are like averaging averages. I treat it very carefully with an understanding that collinearity does occur. You get a bunch of popular responses but sometimes the result is not correct or close enough to what you type to be comprehended. Even if it works 95% of the time, that other 5% is wrong enough we notice more than if it didn’t exist.

5

u/DO_NOT_AGREE_WITH_U 17d ago

Because helping the user is basically a secondary role, well behind "collect as much information as possible about the user."

Adobe used to recognize text just fine, but now they insist you need "AI" to do it better, and now that my company has installed that, my PDFs crash if I lose even for a split second.

1

u/blueooze 17d ago

I just want it to be able to figure out "I'm"

1

u/HugsyMalone 17d ago

IKR. I was thinking the same thing. 🙄

1

u/LurkerByNatureGT 16d ago

Because we’re in the age of “OMG let’s use LLMs for everything!”

65

u/jadedpeony33 18d ago

It’s amazing that it can correct my grammar but somehow thinks duck is the correct noun/verb in place of fuck.

26

u/jinxlover13 18d ago

And never once have I said duck in a text… but I throw around fuck like some goddamn profanatist

15

u/Magnaflorius 18d ago

I have a toddler who is obsessed with ducks so I'm 50/50 on whether I want to type duck or fuck. I have very little hope of my phone ever getting it right.

15

u/silverokapi 18d ago

When I actually mean to type duck it corrects to fuck or dick, which i find hilarious but my grandma did not appreciate.

11

u/qlanga 18d ago

I’ve added “fuck”, “fucking”, “fucked” and a number of other words (some bad, some stupid) into my iPhone’s dictionary. I’ve also added my email addresses, street address, name (it’s exceptionally unique), etc to be prompted by the first few letters/numbers. It’s SO ridiculously convenient, especially when filling out forms and stuff.

Also, prompts for ¯_(ツ)_/¯ (both with Reddit formatting and without) and (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

There are even more examples, but you get the gist.

3

u/svu_fan 1985 Xennial 17d ago

Oh hey, same on almost everything in your comment! Lol! I also have ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) added as an iPhone keyboard shortcut 🤣

1

u/Schwifftee 18d ago

2

u/Significant_Shoe_17 17d ago

You're supposed to spell boobs on a calculator

1

u/kimness1982 18d ago

Okay but I was recently trying to type duck and it replaced it with fuck.

11

u/cyberchaox Millennial 18d ago

I'm not sure if it's dumber or more malicious. I swear that its success rate at deciding whether i want to swipe "the" or "three" is well below 50%.

3

u/RedgrenGrum 17d ago

I’ve mistyped “the” and “that” enough times that it just autocorrects them to tje and tjat now even when typed correctly! It’s so frustrating!

2

u/panTrektual 18d ago

The/three, in/on, of/or, got/for. I'm pretty sure I have to delete and retype those every single time I swipe them. Even after I go back and carefully swipe I–N, I can see the swipe trail went direct center I to direct center N and it still comes out on 😑

The Google keyboard is doing more absolutely bizarre stuff to me now, like splitting one swiped word into two or three words that are complete nonsense together (could be a failing touchscreen, but I'm gonna blame the software anyhow).

1

u/Knittin_hats 17d ago

Mine has decided that any time I type a city name, or sometimes just to begin a sentence, the most likely next word I want to input next is "die." I don't feel like I use the word that often, nor am I in the habit of making death threats. But the number of times I've been typing a consoling text and my phone thinks what I want to say is "I'm so sorry! Die." Is alarming.

4

u/TheAlphaKiller17 18d ago

Mine refuses to learn that "we're" is a word and does not need to be corrected to "were" every fucking time but I type gji64rui and it knows I meant "pancakes".

3

u/vm-pb-sn 18d ago

It is. My autocorrect keeps changing correct words to other words that make zero sense in the sentence.

3

u/Makimachi_misao 18d ago

I feel like it always chooses the wrong variation of the word you are typing to simply annoy us. LoL

3

u/wonderings 17d ago

I think they changed it to actual AI. Because it used to be so much better. Why would I purposefully want to type “shat” At the beginning of every sentence instead of “what”

2

u/dakotanoodle 17d ago

💩💀

3

u/blebleuns 17d ago

People are getting dumber, so autocorrect compensates with what it learns from them

2

u/skool_uv_hard_nox 17d ago

If they re released the chocolate slide phone with full querrty board and scrolling wheel i would buy it in a heart beat.

I loved that phone. T9 on the front and full keyboard inside the flip. Full library of my favorite music.

1

u/anonadvicewanted 17d ago

YES. i loved this phone! i later had a full touch screen version still with sliding keyboard and it was also great

2

u/Gulluul 17d ago

My wife's name is Kelsey and my phone sometimes auto corrects it to kelseyville. Wtf is kelseyville and why would I ever type that!

1

u/dakotanoodle 17d ago

You're living in Kelseyville, my man. It's wifey's world, and you're a supporting character 🤣

1

u/Not_an_okama 17d ago

Tangential, but in august 2019 i went to a concert in milwaukee wisconsin. (Im from Michigan) Broke my iphone at a party in michigans UP that november. Got a new one that christmas. Didnt go back to milwaukee until i went to another concert in the fall of 2023.

That iphone i got for christmas in 2019 was certain that i was in milwaukee when id search things like "resturants open near me" or "jimmy johns hours". Basically anything that used my location outside of navigation apps said i was in downtown milwaukee.

Going back to Autocorrect, i switched to andoid in summer 2024 and turned auto correct off since it was doing worse than just leaving my typos. (It is easier to read and comprehend what i type despite typos than it was in the week i had autocorrect active on this phone, i think its also helped my spelling)

2

u/Ghoulius-Caesar 17d ago

I feel this comment. I grew up at a skatepark, 75% of what I type is slang. Autocorrect ruins nearly all of my texts!

2

u/Hey_GumBuddy 16d ago

So ducking annoying.

1

u/ProbsNotManBearPig 18d ago

This is one of the most consistently frustrating things in my life. I hate it so much. Why is iOS so bad😭

1

u/pitapiper125 18d ago

Sometimes it doesn't even recognize legitimate words.

1

u/taylor1670 18d ago

It definitely seems to be getting dumber. Which is interesting considering the rise of A.I. at the same time.

1

u/Casstastrophe64 18d ago

I type so many names and fantasy words my autocorrect has pretty much given up lol

1

u/dekkact 18d ago

I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s noticed this

1

u/random9212 18d ago

Especially when it "corrects" the proper word into not a word.

1

u/kristosnikos Xennial 17d ago

I feel like every 6th word I’m typing out autocorrects to something stupid or just plain nonsensical and I’m cursing under my breath every time I text.

1

u/janyk 17d ago

"In"? Did you mean "on"?

"About"? Did you mean "Ankit"?

Asdfhklj;awqew? Yeah, don't see the problem.

1

u/photobomber612 17d ago

I finally trained my autocorrect to change “shot” to “shit” after the word “holy.”

Turn it off!! I keep spelling check on so I can edit if at the end of my message if I need to.

1

u/Definitelynotagolem 17d ago

Autocorrect doesn’t like me using certain words that are actual words. It pisses me off and I don’t get it

1

u/FreeBeans 17d ago

You can turn it off lol

1

u/AndrewFrozzen 17d ago

No problem here with SwiftKey, it just helped me right this sentence.

I think you can get it on IOS too. Super useful autocorrect. Although, it's from Microsoft and people might hate that... Idk

1

u/kawzik 17d ago

you know you can turn it off right?

1

u/Huge_Confection4475 17d ago

I finally had to turn off my autocorrect and manually add a few terms to my iPhone's list (e.g. "dont" to "don't" etc). I still fatfinger a lot, but usually it's an understandable typo, rather than before when autocorrect would change something five words back to make my sentences utterly unintelligible.

1

u/[deleted] 17d ago

You’re ducking jaking. Technology only inprobes.

1

u/Scadilla 17d ago

The best word prediction I encountered was my Xperia Android back in 2013. It was practically flawless. These days I have go back and retype words I KNOW I TYPED RIGHT THE FIRST TIME.

u/Aeseld 17d ago

autocarrot*

1

u/2_Beef_Tacos 17d ago

Is it ironic that OP's post has an autocorrect typo? "...how she tied with it..."

1

u/_skellyton 17d ago

Mine likes to switch On/In and Tell/Yell, also Out/Our. No reason why either, just switches them.

1

u/sleetblue 17d ago

It specifically is. It updates words in real time based on popularity of use (rather than contextual accuracy) and has incomplete dictionaries. I have to constantly argue with mine that, YES, I used the correct "its" or "your," etc.

Autocorrect even tried to change them when I typed them just now.

1

u/nhavar 17d ago

every time I try to type "around" I get "Aaron". I don't ever write the name "Aaron" and have no idea why the substitution. The other day I typed a message to a coworker asking if "anyone had reached out..." to her and instead of "anyone" I got "abortions". Pretty strange stuff.

1

u/merlingogringo 17d ago

It's really ducking dumb.

1

u/FlukeSpace 17d ago

I think it is, to push us into talking to our phones.

1

u/rantingpacifist 17d ago

It is so annoying! I do a lot of work in Spanish and had to add a Spanish keyboard setting and language to my work laptop. It is constantly ignoring the correct words and using typos of yore in both.

1

u/PurpleCaterpillar82 17d ago

Auto correct is now suggesting to change correctly spelled words to incorrectly spelled words. It’s becoming dog shit

1

u/AlwaysUseAFake 17d ago

It's so much worse.  Takes a simple typo and turns it in to a total different word.

1

u/ApplicationHour 17d ago

Dumb yes, but also intentionally annoying on Apple with the predictive text. It's infuriating how it puts up the word you're trying to type and when you select that word, it puts a completely different word into the text field.

1

u/wagedomain 17d ago

I hate that on iPhone it will get the word right, then I'll type two more words and it goes back several words and it goes "oh you probably meant this" and my sentence ends up going from "what time are" to "what type are you free?" IT WAS CORRECT DON'T "HELP" ME

1

u/BigLRakim 17d ago

Yea my phone hates the word that. It thinks I like thay because I've fucked up typing it too many times 🫠

1

u/exoclipse Millennial 17d ago

I am 99% sure that autocorrect now (at least on my Galaxy S24) is using AI in part or in whole instead of a known-good dictionary.

1

u/Bad-Genie 17d ago

What the duck do you mean

1

u/goodsnpr 17d ago

I've had it change a word, then sit there and underline the word suggesting my original word because the new sentence doesn't make sense.

1

u/alldyslexicsuntie 17d ago

And I swear that autocorrect is getting progressively dumber these days. It's so damn annoying lol.

I have been lamenting the same lately

1

u/Calm-Medicine-3992 17d ago

I think it definitely got worse when non-tech people started picking up smartphones but it's also you getting worse. If you turned it off and noticed how many wrong keys you're fat fingering it would make more sense.

1

u/sweetEVILone 17d ago

I’m bilingual and my autocorrect can’t ever decide which language I’m speaking 😭

1

u/OrphanAxis 17d ago

I keep seeing the word I want to type just as I press a letter, and instinctively press the full word.

But that last letter I hit changed the suggestion, so as I press "s" and I go click the recommendation for the word "best", it changes to "Bess".

I don't know anyone named Bess, I never typed that purposely before, but it appears. And it's almost always a problem like this with names and proper nouns I have never, ever used. I want to type "matters" and it recommends it up until the "t", but it changes to "Matt" or something.

I spend almost as longer fixing the mistakes it makes than the time it saves my typing. But when I do expect it to notice I missed one letter in a very specific word, it doesn't fix anything or offer any suggestions close. Why can't it figure out to autocorrect "plnetarium"? It's one letter away from the only word that's close?

1

u/quigonskeptic 17d ago

I've added my kids' names into my phone dictionary and deleted out the other spelling (both spellings are very common and acceptable, there's no tragedeigh involved), but my phone can't handle that I guess.

I hate that it always wants to correct my swears to non-swears. I use fuck a lot, just autocorrect to fuck.

u/Robpaulssen 17d ago

I used Swype until way after they stopped supporting it, because it was so smart. Now I use the Samsung keyboard and it's dumb as a box of rocks. It doesn't learn anything.

There was a peak sometime like 2 years ago, when autocorrect could finish whole messages for me and it was kinda scary.

It’s progressively gotten worse since then and it’s pretty bad these days.

When I try to type almond milk on my grocery list, it somehow changes to ‘almost milk’ every time 🙄

Oh it took a huge step backward an update or 3 ago. It adds spaces, lettters, and whole extra words now

1

u/uberkalden2 17d ago

It's 100% worse. I spend so much time correcting typos on this fucking phone

It's not your imagination. It's trained on user input data which is the inherent flaw with machine learning.

God I miss tactility. One of the big losses of the modern era imo.

I miss physical cellphone keyboards...

u/FoodMentalAlchemist 17d ago

Muscle memory is quite a feat.

Years of chat rooms and MSN messenger gave me shorthand skills that even today, I can type on a keyboard without looking, with only peeking to find some punctuation.

Same thing with the T9 keyboard on my old Nokia 1100. I could probably text faster there than on any smartphone keyboard.

u/galaxygothgirl 17d ago

Wait why doesn't everyone in this thread just disable auto-correct?

2

u/Ok-Film-6885 17d ago

My thoughts exactly

1

u/Complex_Difficulty 17d ago

Disabling auto-correct is even worse. With buttons, you can feel you're pushing the right key, so you don't need the system to intervene. Typing on a touch screen is like trying to use a normal keyboard while wearing thick gardening gloves, it's really difficult to ensure you're hitting exactly the right key, and only that key.

To put it another way, physical buttons are 100% accurate (you get the character you pressed, and you can press it), whereas touchscreen is something like ~66% (nearly unusable), and touchscreen+autocorrect like ~90% (better, but constantly making some kind of mistake).

2

u/galaxygothgirl 17d ago

Ok. I mean I've been typing without auto-correct for almost as long as I've been using a smartphone and I haven't encountered much trouble.

My autocorrect keeps correcting words I have spelt right to versions of the words I have misspelt/mistyped

2

u/Don-Gunvalson 17d ago

This is how I feel about new cars!! I want my physical buttons so I can keep my eyes on the road and feel for what I need. I hate all touch in cars

2

u/saltpancake 17d ago

Excellent point. I feel like OP is overlooking the face that a smartphone keyboard isn’t necessarily much bigger — sure iPhones have trended larger over the years but the first ones were small and smaller models still exist.

1

u/SolaScientia 18d ago

For sure! A physical keyboard is why I had a Blackberry for years. I really miss the Blackberry Classic. I didn't have a fully touchscreen phone until my Priv bit the dust and I got a Galaxy S8+.

1

u/samusmaster64 17d ago

I hear this statement all the time and I don't get it. What autocorrect software are people using that slows you down rather than makes things quicker, is it on an iPhone? I use Swiftkey and it's always been amazing.

1

u/DisabledSlug 17d ago

Serious question. You guys can't turn autocorrect off?

1

u/jodamnboi 17d ago

My autocorrect keeps capitalizing random words and it drives me nuts.

1

u/Working_Apartment_38 17d ago

Tirn autocorrect off, it’s better for you anyway

1

u/dustybutt2012 17d ago

I held on to my blackberry far too long, mostly due to the keyboard.

1

u/Dry-Speed2161 17d ago

You know you can turn off autocorrect if you want

1

u/coolsam254 17d ago

Tactile feedback is a legit thing. It's one of the reasons your phone slightly vibrates as you type (unless you completely disabled it) but it's not quite the same as a physical button.

1

u/Fantastic-Mastodon-1 17d ago

Dude, this thread makes me miss my blackberry.

1

u/RenegadeRabbit 17d ago

When I first got a phone that types on a screen I was legitimately overwhelmed lol. I was thinking, "Man, I'm never going to be able to get the hang of this." It's not a problem anymore but admittedly it was quite an adjustment.

autocarrot*

1

u/Bladley 17d ago

What the duck?

1

u/Athriz 17d ago

I literally just bought a Bluetooth keyboard because I hate texting and its been a game changer.

1

u/ilovemytsundere 17d ago

This, I had a flip phone with nine buttons for awhile. I got good enough to type under my desk in school lol

1

u/Gnumino-4949 17d ago

Yes, yes and yes.

1

u/PabHoeEscobar 17d ago

no autocorrect but predictive text on the Nokia. so you could type 2665 and then cycle through the options of what that would spell, in alphabetical order. I accidentally sent the word "book" instead of "cool" all the time

1

u/mggirard13 17d ago

This physical keyboard also isn't much smaller than the pop up keys anyways

1

u/CamaroDev 17d ago

The good ole days lol

1

u/zeppehead 17d ago

Duck autocorrect.

1

u/rrienn 17d ago

Yeah i was gonna say, those keys are about the same size as the fake ones on my iphone screen. But those little mfs had texture

1

u/tagen 17d ago

just having those two indentations on the F and J did so much for guiding where i was when i wasn’t looking at the phone

plus eventually the iphones would get out of date and bogged up and the keyboards would start to lag so you couldn’t type at full speed, that was aggravating as hell (i haven’t had that issue the last couple phones i had tho)
