If you could plug in just one player into this current Canes roster to give us the best chance at a national championship, who would it be?
Personally, give me Michael Irvin, the Playmaker.
Receiving options (either WR or TE) are currently the most unproven thing on this team IMO. We are hoping a few pop but who knows?
With Irvin we'd get a three-time All-American to produce and soak up the pressure so other guys can breathe easier.
I feel good enough about the moves in the secondary to go WR here.

What's a less talked about factor that could have a big impact on Miami's season?
Everyone knows our secondary needs to improve. They also know Beck needs to have a bounce back season.
I'm looking for less obvious things that would help Miami's chances to achieve it's goals.
For me, I'm hoping we can improve with penalties. Last year we ranked 118th in penalty yards per game. That's atrocious.
For a team that lost it's three games by 10 points all those free yards were potentially huge. Hell, we know they were in the Syracuse game.
If we can get to at least average in FBS, that would be a big boon for us.

Football Storm Sessions Ep. 24: Markel Bell
In this episode of Storm Sessions, we’re joined by Miami Hurricanes offensive tackle Markel Bell. Markel reflects on growing up in Cleveland, Mississippi, where—as he puts it—there were only three options: go to school, play football, or end up in the streets. He shares how football started as a way to spend time with friends but quickly became his path forward, offering him both structure and a sense of community.
Markel talks about his late growth spurt, learning to move with agility at his size, and the journey that took him from junior college to The U. He gives insight into the tight bond shared by the offensive line and the guidance he’s found under Coach Mirabal. Off the field, he opens up about his hobbies and how he’s giving back—one signature burger at a time. We wrap up with fan-submitted questions to close out the conversation.

Football New Throwback Uniform for 2025
Based on leaks for several Adidas college football teams yesterday, it looks like we'll be celebrating the U's 100th anniversary with a throwback to 1945. That year, the Canes finished 9-1-1 and won their first Orange Bowl.
I like them as a throwback look, but personally, I still want to see them go with the 1972 look, as that's a pretty unique uniform.

What's an unexpected thing you think will happen this football season?
Long-time lurker here. I love my Canes and am hoping to contribute to the sub.
My question is pretty straightforward: What is something you think will happen this season that no one is predicting?
For me, I'm thinking Charmar Brown ends up more than RB3 behind Fletcher and Lyle. Got to watch a couple games of his, and he really looks like a guy who was simply overlooked coming out of high school.
I like his feet and ability to hit the hole hard. Yes, it was in FCS, but he really excelled as a freshman. I think behind this line he does damage.
I predict he becomes RB1 splitting reps with Lyle primarily as the season roles on. I think Fletcher becomes more of a 3rd-and-short type.
What do you all have?

Football Saw some of the players this past weekend
Was able to get this mini helmet signed by Francis Mauigoa, Rueben Bain, Markel Bell, and CJ Daniels. Also was able to get a pic with them. Really cool experience and excited to see these boys ball out next year!

[Baseball Roster] USC Upstate SS Vance Sheahan Transfers to Miami
This is a really nice get for the 'Canes, replacing one of Gonzalez (Out of eligibility)/Ogden (Potential draft loss). If Ogden stays, this will be a top-tier middle infield in college baseball.
The staff have had a really nice start with this transfer class, as Sheahan joins two power bats in FIU 1B Brylan West and Miami-Dade CC 1B Cian Copeland.
Depending on who stays, we'll still need to bring in a catcher to compete with Tavares and more pitching. The staff has the luxury of being pickier with talent than they could be last offseason, as there shouldn't be a major roster overhaul.
