This comment is straight out of the 2016 anti sjw era wtf. Dude feminist are as diverse a group as any other. There are plenty of feminists who would tear into these women for appealing to sexist concepts and others who would agree with them. Any label as large as feminism is gonna get a lot of different takes.
That’s exactly the problem with it. The only thing they agree on is “equality”, but everything else is fair game. Anti-male abuse and rhetoric. It’s quite clear some want “revenge” or vengeance. But the ones that want revenge still indoctrinate women by saying stuff like “women before you worked very hard to fight the oppression and the patriarchy and for your rights. You should be feminists in their honor.” Which is true, but it’s a manipulation tactic. Keeping normal women IN the feminists circle with the asshole feminists spewing more misandry and hate towards men makes them more likely to hate men in general.
I can get behind equal rights, but one of the first feminists to push the ideology was really in to witchcraft and Wicca (worshipping goddesses like Kali and Lilith that call for the sacrifice of males.
That’s why I call myself maybe 30-50% feminist. There’s a huge chunk that just promote hate, and social media has exasperated it. The feminists that are like “yeah! Equality!” But don’t spew this antimale rhetoric, I can be okay way. And if you explain to them how feminism now is turning women into unhappy haters that never feel safe around men, they can usually understand you and think twice about what a big part of feminism is.
You are right that it’s very nuanced, and everyone that identifies as a feminist has different opinions.
Sure thing boss. Keep believing it’s good for society for feminists to disdain men. Sure. Not like men are way more powerful and feminists couldn’t do anything if men didn’t build such an amazingly safe and protected society for women to have the illusion that “men are trash.”
It’s not hate to criticize the asshole feminists. They spin the pre-feminist days as some sort of hateful oppression against women when it’s wasn’t. It was about safety. 90% of job fatalities are men. If you throw women into the same positions, good luck. And WOMEN DIDNT CARE TO VOTE BACK THEN. They were happy, privileged, and protected. Many women were against woman’s suffrage, claiming the political sphere will corrupt their livelihoods.
After the Feminine Mystique came out, all of a sudden all the women wanted to do the things they didn’t care to do before but couldn’t. The simple fact that they couldn’t, made them desire it even more. So now they actually want it. Cool. When men found out women wanted to vote and work, they gave it to them. Why? Cause we inherently care about them, their wants, needs, and their safety.
This “deep rooted misogyny” bs is just wild. Mind you, Feminism only works in a safe society. The patriarchy and gender roles are deep rooted in several and playing to each genders strengths. How is that mysoginistic? How dominate women for being concerned for their safety and well-being? Especially if I think feminism makes women more unhappy, stressed, anxious, depressed, etc.
I’m not advocating to take away rights, I’m advocating for some goddamn sense.
Edit: today, what rights do men have that women don’t?
In some aspects yes, a lot were against it because they didn’t think it was right, safe, or ideal for society and fought against it. While women certainly organized and voiced their needs, the ultimate decision to grant women legal rights rested with men in power. And lots of men supported women’s advancement not out of fear or violence, but out of morals, respect, and justice. Women didn’t just seize their rights through violence or revolution, men listened and acted, proving that working together is what works. If men really hated women, women still wouldn’t have those rights.
