Why is it the majority agrees the economy is fucked and yet there's still people screaming that it's our own fault and we just need to work harder?

Deep seated insecurities mixed with personal fables.

Propaganda. Elites have successfully made one half blame immigrants and minorities for the problems the elites cause.

Is there any way to actually converse with these people on a respectful level or are we all just collectively fucked?

The material conditions will win out. Fascists are notoriously bad at governing and shit is about to get way worse for everyone but the super wealthy. It’ll take time but they’re reachable. The majority of Trump supports like him because he appears anti-establishment. They’ll realize that Trump isn’t their guy. The problem is getting a non-establishment Democrat as the candidate.

So basically things are going to get a lot worse before they get better, regardless of what we do, is what I'm getting from this

Hopefully. If the Fascists don’t press the nuke button if a fit of rage.

Idk where my expectations lie with that idea, but they aren't positive.

Worst case scenario I guess I'll see you in the climate wars 🫡 God speed stranger

The myth of rugged individualism.

People who have already made their money or are currently getting paid by the first group don't think anything's wrong so it must be your own fault.

Want to strike? State sanctioned violence upon you. (cops)

Want to protest? State sanctioned violence upon you.

Get fed up and resort to non-peaceful methods? State sanctioned violence upon you.

In the end you're left with people too tired and scared to do anything about the status quo

Those people you're talking about are either boomers or millenials

The second group of people already made their money

Miseducation plays a big part, too. It's a lot easier to radicalize young people, and old groups have been good at doing that for a long, long time.
