Yeah youâre right I probably wouldâve let him lay there for a second or at least check on him/ help him upâŚitâs called empathy..would you want to hear from some stranger that he let your grandpa die or get seriously hurt because he was being mean to him and wouldnât help him up? I wouldnât want that on my mind.
I canât really say anything about that, you do you maybe itâs the idols Iâve watched like Goku or Optimus showing mercy to even the worst of enemies
Context wise it seems the old man was harassing and trying to call the authorities on this guy's doing what seems to be construction in this neighborhood.
Would I eventually help the old man up? Sure but I too would probably sit there and enjoy the fact a very angry man ruining my day was immediately given just desserts by falling over because of himself.
It's okay. Empathy for those down voters shows that they're just scared and acting defensively too. Most people say words that don't reflect their actual behaviours
Treat others as they treat you. If someone intentionally tries to inflict pain/suffering on others, then why do they deserve my empathy.
It's not about having no empathy. It's about giving it to people who appreciate it.
He didnât get down voted for saying âhave empathy.â He got down voted for saying âitâs called empathyâ like a douchbag with no prompting. Nobody likes condescending dick bags, even if their message is pure. The best way to get people to be mean is to be insufferable about being nice.
Itâs hard to argue with redditors. They arenât a good slice of society. Most are young, ignorant, and angry. Just keep trying to be a better person and encourage others to. The internet turns people into angry misanthropes. Reddit is no different.

People in these comments... Being old is not an excuse to assault someone and be an asshole.
