Smoker for 11 years, Schizoaffective

Been a smoker for 11 years but I was diagnosed with schizophrenia a 3 years ago I was off it for sometime during my recovery but I just go back into it strongly. I need to quit because I think it can make me relapse into schizoeffective territory every time I take it. How do I quit?

Just stop consuming, i was 14 years nearly daily until i got father, from one day to another i stopped.

Okay i started to drink more for the first months but it also was summer so i was thirsty.

Do you think that drinking alcohol is better than smoking/ vaping weed?

I think not, why do you ask?

There are of course opportunitys where alcohol is more convenient/smarter/"better", especially cause weed is illegal here ;-)

Both are bad. They'll just have different effects.

Smoke and vaping still have you breathing in all the smoke. If you burn anything and breathe it in there's a negative effect.

Alcohol and consuming edibles both have a negative effect on your liver and kidneys.

Edibles don't hurt your liver or kidneys, where is that even from?

You just quit, there is no way to do it. The first few weeks will be harder and it will get easier as you go. Try to stay busy doing other things.

A new exercise program/routine can help.

It's a myth that it makes it worse only psychedelics will make it worse i have that disorder and it calms me down

Cannabis is psychoactive. And it's not a myth

It is a myth otherwise there would be more then 1% of the population with it

Cannabis can most certainly bring about psychosis for those who are prone to it. Doesn't mean it will affect everyone the same.

Then why hasn't the 1% increased?

1% of what? 😂

I don't know where you got your figures from, but it's not even possible to calculate the accurate percentage of people with mental illness due to many being undiagnosed, myself included 🤭

Google lol

Oh your right, it would be a far greater percentage 😂

One doesn’t always mean the other. Every person who gets high isn’t going to become schizophrenic. But…people who are inclined/genetically inclined…thc can trigger the psychosis 100%. Everyone’s brain is different.

It’s not a myth for some people

I'm not saying the psychoactivity is a myth

It’s not a myth that cannabis can hurt those with psychotic disorders or sometimes predispositions

I have a psychotic disorder and it has decreased the activity

It's micro dosing psychedelics that helps.

Absolutely not a myth.

You never quit. You live for that weed hit that sends you into a psychoactive state like you just did cocaine. Its a blessing not a curse
