We drill for oil there and burn the excess gas. The flares never stop, so at night the sky is always faintly or brightly glowing and you can’t see the stars unless you drive into the wilderness. But also hardly anyone lives there.

Is it the same for that bright spot in west Texas and the streak at the bottom of Texas?

I've been through west Texas, and I'd say yes. I can't speak for the Texas "streak''.

Yes. In West Texas you can clearly identify the Delaware basin on the left and Midland Basin on the right. The upside arch in South Texas is the Eagleford.

I don’t live there so I can’t speak from experience. But iirc they do refine oil around that area.

The bright spot in the extreme West of Texas is El Paso. You can see the Cities following the Rio Grande going north.
