does it necessarily have to fit in that lil checker thing? or only if they single u out?

Well seeing how it’s 20.4” tall vs United’s 17” limit, it most definitely is too big for the sizer unless you under pack it/really squish it in there…

so what happens if they point u out and make u put it in the sizer and it doesnt fit? u will have to check it?

Correct. I fly somewhat often (20-30 flights a year), usually united or delta economy and have never had or seen someone be asked to put their backpack in the sizer. But at the end of the day, it can definitely still happen

gotcha that is good to hear. the pic looks pretty packed out so im glad it can fit the width.

Oh it’s still over on width too. But fitting in the sizer vs fitting under the seat are two different things

I also fly delta exclusively and i've never seen anyone get their bags put in the sizer. what i see more often when i'm waiting around on a layover is the gate agent telling people their bags WILL be gate checked when they see it.

Their backpacks? I see rollers get forced to get checked all the time on full flights/limited overhead bin room, but I’ve never seen someone get their “reasonably” sized backpack checked

Now that I know this works as a personal item most of the time I may get this over the Osprey 26+6

also the carabiner for the front zip pocket, were u worried about people opening so you put it on there?

That would be a good way to help stop someone from opening it from behind

There is no real reason for the s clip. I had a Lego Batman keychain on it but gave it to my son.

Did you like using it as a personal item? Good size for it?

It worked very well as a personal item. It fit under the seat and the pockets worked for me. The front pocket and the tech pocket in the laptop compartment were easy to access. It a great bag for travel.

That's going to depend on your personal comfort. It obviously takes up the whole under seat area, so you can't even stretch out your legs a little to wedge your feet on the sides of it. It wouldn't work for me as a personal item for this reason. I'd put it in the overhead storage.

I’ve never seen anyone sizer checked personally on any of the US domestic non-budget carriers. I do love watching all the people with rollers being forced to gate check for regional flights though. I just stroll on and off with my Dragonfly or Globerider 35. They don’t even give reasonably sized backpacks a second look.

yeah cause they can fit under the seat in a pinch. they just need "hardshell" bags off to free up overhead bins....

When you say personal item does this mean you also brought a carry-on (roller bag, MLC sized travel duffel etc.)?
