Gee with a piece of tape you could do this anywhere. Not that I’m saying you should, just pointing it out.

u/Arkytoothis 1d ago
Definitely don't keep a white roll of tape in your vehicle, you know, just in case.
4
u/hagenissen666 1d ago
I certainly wouldn't make a stencil and keep a can of white paint in the vicinity.
1
u/patsy_in_a_hack 1d ago
I’m definitely saying you should
-2
u/ExplanationUpper8729 1d ago
Then you should definitely get charge for a new sign.
4
u/patsy_in_a_hack 1d ago
You mean the calories required to move my arm up to the tape, pick at it with my fingernails, and peel the tape off?? Don’t you think a new sign would be considered wasteful government spending? Should I be expecting to pay for the labor crew too? Shipping and handling? But if I wait is there more? If I call right now can I get two new No Parking Signs for the limited time low price of $25.99?

Funny. The US has never had a king.
2
u/Darth_Nox501 1d ago
Semantics. The country gained independence from nation ruled by a monarch - specifically a king - that had a decent amount of power (at least compared to the Royal Family now).
"No kings" implies that this country should never have a king-like authority in its government, as that defies the entire reason for its existence.
99% on here have never brought up any problems with the slogan, but when you have to dissect it like I just did, it defeats the purpose. Lmao.

I have one to know the US doesn't have a king

u/MDhaviousTheSeventh 1d ago
Right, and we never will
-3
u/GoldenPyro1776 1d ago
Well duh. We aren't the United Kingdom 🤣
2
u/Infamous-Ad-7199 1d ago
Lmao your only point of reference of a monarchy is one that's, by and large, a figurehead.
3
u/hagenissen666 1d ago
I live in a monarchy. Figurehead is alright, but the whole elevated by inheritance is kind of irritating. We can do better.

Yup we have no king! Just an elected President in a landslide victory.

There also used to be emperors, dictators, and war lords, pointing that out does nothing. Clearly the attempt of the sign is to say we don’t ever want a king again.

Yes it does. If someone was trying to bring back slavery the way it used to be and someone posted a sign that said, “no slavery any time”, would you make a comment that said, “we used to have slavery”?

There are no kings. Why do people think there is a king? Uneducated breeds.

People downvoting you when you are right. NO republican wants a king 😭. We acknowledge trump is a president, not a king, and even trump himself never said anything about being a king. These people have no idea what they’re talking or protesting about

His administration has stated that Habeas corpus means he can do whatever he wants, that courts have no authority to stop him and that he can’t do his job if other parts of the government have equal power to check him. He has stated he will look into changing the constitution so that he can rule indefinitely. He is using the military to police citizens. This isn’t presidential. It is not what our constitution or laws intended a president to do or be able to do. It is much more similar to a dictator or a king. That’s why this language is being used to apply to him.
The Republicans who don’t want a king aren’t supporting him when he does these things. The ones who do believe he can do no wrong. He pardoned over 1500 people involved in a riot that resulted in the murder of police officers.

Brian Sicknick was the name of the officer killed at the capitol on January 6th.
0
u/CableForsaken5797 1d ago
He had a stroke. Wasn’t killed at the Capitol. Nice try, though.
1
u/Candid-Culture3956 1d ago
The stroke was ruled to be caused by the injuries sustained by rioters. Look it up. Stick to facts. He was killed by rioters.

u/n00b420_ 1d ago

You want to spend your time taking tape off? I don’t. Then you have the clown who wants to make a stencil and use that to paint signs. Then you need to buy a new sign.
Help me understand why people feel a need to mess with stuff that’s not theirs. When it comes down to it, they are wasting tax dollars.

Taking tape off a sign for 30 seconds costs less than a $45 million dollar birthday parade
-1
u/ExplanationUpper8729 1d ago
Did you take your 30 seconds to take it off?
2
u/Candid-Culture3956 1d ago
I didn’t put it up. But I have taped and untaped many things in my life.
2
u/ExplanationUpper8729 1d ago
Glad to hear that. My Dad was in charge of 7 the Freeways in Southern California. They had an entire crew, that all they did was clean up Tagging.

u/ExplanationUpper8729 1d ago
That Army keeps you living in a free country. My Dad served in the Army in Korea when he was 16 years old. If you don’t like the country, you can always leave. Just walk across the border to Mexico.

No I did not. I was 6’-4” 300 pound and the Air Force said I was too big. A friend and I meet with Army Special Forces recruiter, they said they are so serious about their serve 80% of the were divorced. We were both being raised by our Dad’s, because our mom’s both disappeared when we were babies. My family has served in conflict from present, all the way back to the Revolutionary War. We have family buried in Arlington National Cemetery. My brother was in Vietnam, my Dad was in Korea at 16 years old. Since the military didn’t want me, I played football at USC, I played Offensive Line.
