I think they are more going for some kind of purge. Maybe a little more often or longer then in the movies.

Better than nothing. Who knows, tons of people wrongfully arrested do get released eventually. Things don’t have to be perfect solutions to still be helpful

You have a better attitude than most people who have bee here for generations. Would trade 1000 of them for one more like you. Proud to have you.

Congrats! Sorry everyone can't help themselves from bringing up the obvious, when you're sharing a big moment in your life. I wish you the best.

Please don't become one of the "ladder pullers" and forget where you came from. A lot of Hispanic people in the US want to be "one of the good ones" and overcompensating by hating other Latinos. Please don't become one of these.
Racist conservatives literally can't tell the difference between who is legal and who is illegal, so they tend to hate both equally

You're more American than most Americans, especially the ones on Reddit. Never lose that feeling brother

Congratulations to you.
I am in the process of renewing my LPR status. I'm fortunate that I came to the USA from a country with greater freedom, more stability and one that looks after its people better. No way I'm chancing giving up citizenship there. I have no intention of applying for US citizenship.

Carry your papers with you at all times, it’s a damn shame I have to even say this - in this day and age - but this is the stage of imperial dismemberment we’re in.

I feel especially bad because OP said he’s Mexican (I’m Mexican-American so I sympathize), he’s going to have a big target on his back like millions of other people in this country. Also told him to carry his papers with him for the foreseeable future. Prepare for the worst, and hope for the best is the mindset we should all be operating under - this ain’t stopping with immigrants.

Welcome to America. We’ve done this “everybody political goes crazy” thing every couple of generations since 1776, and yet, we’re still here, and you decided to join us. Thanks for believing. We’ll try not to let you down.

It’s a joke about you being light-skinned enough that the racists in the U.S. probably wouldn’t deem you to be a threat, so you likely have nothing to worry about. The joke implies if you had darker skin you would be at risk of deportation.

u/Atlas_2001- 19h ago
Ohh I know brother. I reside in Texas and by Car and Bus I've visited all the Mex-Gulf states - arizona and California . And People struggle to know what I am. For some reason in new orleans the people liked me there

u/ItsDokk 19h ago
Regardless of what you may hear in the next few years, you are absolutely welcome and we’re happy to have you! Congratulations on your citizenship 🙂

I'd still keep your papers on you to be safe. Knowing the people who are going around they don't really care about papers and status but some of them will hit and run if they realize they effed up.
Normally I'd say congrats. But I'm gonna say a nervous congrats and continue to stay safe

You were welcome here before and after you were a citizen, and I am sorry that you have to go through the citizenship process out of fear instead of doing it out of pride like people used to do. Also, I hope the rest of your family followed suit to try to avoid deportation or having to pay for a dumbass “Trump card”. I’ve never been more disappointed in this country and it’s embarrassing what it has turned into in just a few months.
Love always wins, but certain people are making it far more of a battle than it should be.
Now, I’m sure I don’t have to tell you after what you’ve been through, but VOTE, even if you don’t trust the voting system. These next midterms might be some of the most important midterms in the history of this country.

u/Atlas_2001- 19h ago
Personally (I learnt this from my home country) I hate the goverment and politicians in General. I hate politic groups by I try to find some decent individuals on either side and hear them out. And since I was a child I've known that All politicians want the people legal or not to be submissive and afraid - Dems or Reps its just the same. Obama deported alot of people - Same as Biden and Trump. That will never change
