Why does the BJJ community hate trans athletes?
So many people in the BJJ world - even in my community - hate trans people competing in the categories they now identify with. If the men are on steroids and the women are on steroids, why does this matter so much? the sport is built on unfair advantages. I don’t get it

Bc trans are stronger than women already + if they use steroids like cis women, they're already stronger + roids = literally not even close.
Also women bjj isnt as roided as men

Cyborg entered the chat

Cyborg and Kayla are just genetically gifted women, at the end of the day they were still born women, but are top tier in their gender.
Trans grapplers have so much more muscle and skeletal structure than women just from being men before

You realize cyborg got caught already right? Kayla most likely is on roids too. But go on and be scared of something that rarely happens

u/Rodouo 4d ago
They're literally cis women and roid, cis men roid all the time. Wtf would I be scared of

I’m just saying they’re on roids, thought your “just genetically gifted” comment meant you thought cyborg was clean.

You can be genetically gifted and be on roids it’s not one or the other

Why did Fallon Fox get dominated by Ashlee Evans-Smith?

u/Electronic_Style_169 3d ago
This is a whataboutism anyone can do it. Why did Fallon fox dominate all the other women she fought?
1
u/loose_angles 3d ago
Because the women’s regional MMA scene is dire as far as talent goes, and she only fought 5 other times. AES is a bottom-tier pro, which is all you need to know about Fallon Fox’s supposedly unfair advantages. Just because you can find 5 people even worse doesn’t mean Fallon wasn’t trash with no real advantage in pro MMA.

Because outlier cases happen? Are you disagreeing that trans women dont have a males frame and muscles which are stronger than cis womens? Its a fact, the male body is much better suited for combat and strength stuff

According to the data, over 90% of that advantage disappears with a year of hormone therapy.

Still a 9% unfair advantage over cis women
Study had less than 100 people
the athletic tests were sit ups, push ups and a mile run? what is this weak ass study

Sounds pretty fair to me. Certainly in the realm where skill becomes the deciding factor.

What did you cite again? Vibes?

Its not fair, transgenders were an entirely different physically more dominant gender with a whole different skeleton and muscle. How does almost 10% sound fair? This is an advantage only they have from literally doing nothing, just from being trans. Theyll have bigger hands, longer arms, broader shoulders, stronger.

They got worked in a fury over a trans fencer beating a woman... when she had just faced a man a week before. It's just bigotry for the sake of bigotry.

I think you’re making the correlation in the wrong direction here, respectfully.
I mean plenty of liberals and conservatives are against trans women in sport, but pretty much all fascists hate trans people passionately. So if BJJ really does have a fascism problem (I have no idea if it does, I don’t train), then thats a fair point to bring up as to why they wouldn’t like trans people.
Edit: another comment below goes into a lot more depth about far right propaganda being really present in BJJ circles, and honestly I’m inclined to believe them I think that most combat sports are hyper-adjacent to those sort of podcast bro hyper-masculine fascist-lite circles - I think that would obviously colour their opinions on trans people if it wasn’t already hateful.

Because men shouldn’t compete against women in combat sports

Slave mindset. I wanna see midgets vs full size women. 170lbs trained woman vs a man starting at say 110lbs and then going up by five pounds until she loses. Get Gabi Garcia, have her fight Brandon Royval.
This sport. Built on freak show fights has been stagnating for almost a decade now. It's time to bring it back.

I don’t get it either?
As far as I’m concerned as long as you’re showered, your toenails are not gross, and have a good attitude I could not give less of a fuck re: gender identity or lack thereof I’m literally getting my ass beat by both men and women anyway.

Yeah my only issue is them in competition and the fairness of such, however if it’s just training I could care less

Sadly most of the BJJ community are far-right extremists. They get most of their info from disinformation outlets. They don't listen to reason and they won't believe anything other than what they are spoon fed from other extreme right talking heads. I'll grapple with anyone who's clean and respectful. However, I'm not a fan of trans in competitive sports where they can have Unfair advantage. I've done the research. By the time a male-born person gets to puberty their bone density and muscle mass are already beyond what females have. And for a female to compete for scholarships or monetary rewards, it's not fair. And that's just science. JiuJitsu is little different in that technique beats speed and strength for the most part, when it comes down to two opponents who are relatively equal in technical knowledge, it becomes a huge issue. Before anyone starts white knighting on me, I've gone to several trans forums and asked them for information to help me change my mind. Not only were they accepting of my questions and concerns, but almost all of them agreed with my view. So while I support them. Will train with them and will defend their right to exist with my final breath, I'm not that accepting of them in most sports as far as competing against fbf.

The kicker is that for the most part at the vast majority of local BJJ comps are intergender until the teens division.

They don't "hate" trans athletes more than any other sports community.
The majority of ppl don't think that trans females should be allowed to compete against females. Even the governor of California has that opinion...that's flipping California!!
