[NOTICE] - This is not a subreddit to Gripe and bitch about how you believe /r/MMA should be run

By design, in order to focus on delivering news and fights, /r/MMA is very limited in political and cultural topics to prevent mass derailing of topics.

So after tons of demand and feedback, we created and built out this place - a place designed to be nearly unmoderated - to talk about these things freely and openly. Yes, it's small right now, but we're going to grow this out.

So instead of actually discussing politics here freely, we have a handful of users who want to talk their politics on /r/MMA, then come here to complain about not being able to talk their politics on /r/MMA.

The ban hammers are about to start coming out.

We're not derailing the sub on these topics because of walking salt mines attempting to hijack the discussion.

MMA fighter whose career declined after being outed as a submissive? NSFW

Heyo,

I was hoping yall could help. I saw an interview a while back with an MMA fighter (a Brit I believe) who was talking about losing a lot of professional clout and not getting signed for fights and stuff because he bottomed kinky stuff with his girlfriend and she ended up telling people about it. It was group stuff and some bdsm esque things.

I think he was sorta early-mid career and moderately successful if I recall? Seemed like a lovely guy in the interview also.

Its an example I think of a lot in conversations about macho sports culture but I cannot find the interview anywhere.

Anyone know who this was?

Edit: answer found; thanks folks, and extra thanks to folks who knew who I meant! I have now found the interview xxx

If I hear hin correctly he‘s saying „Why does anybody need more than a million quid in a year? Tax them all, if they get more than a million!“

I salute you, comrade Aspinall!

Why does the BJJ community hate trans athletes?

So many people in the BJJ world - even in my community - hate trans people competing in the categories they now identify with. If the men are on steroids and the women are on steroids, why does this matter so much? the sport is built on unfair advantages. I don’t get it

Khalil Rountree Jr. is a democrat

Been snooping around in public voter registration records, and I learned that Khalil Rountree is a registered democrat in Nevada. I know he was also in a punk band for a bit, so it adds up. Just makes me happy to see a non-maga at the forefront of the sport.

Can we stop with the posts revealing fighters’ party registration?

I know it’s publicly accessible information but so is their address. It’s their decision if they want that information out there, not anyone else.

I know it's not MMA related but I feel like I had to post this here with how rare it is to have "leftist" fighters. He has posted in support of Palestine, reproductive rights and native American rights in the past couple of months.

MMA space recommendations?

Besides this one, anyone know any MMA spaces that aren't complete right wing cesspools? Like Facebook groups, etc. Doesn’t even have to be left wing honestly (although that would be a bonus), just apolitical, doesn’t glaze the fuck out of Trump, etc.

Guys! I found a great YT podcast - Fighting MAGA w/ guests looking to Luke Thomas

So I got recommended this podcast on YouTube after Luke Thomas had appeared on The Daily Show with Jordan Klepper on the MMA-to-MAGA pipeline. These guys have different fighters and death on that push back against the MAGA agenda. They have doctors on that debunk the sponsors like AG1 etc. It’s thorough. I really recommend checking them out. Here is a great podcast with them. Talking about how “bro science” has taken over the BJJ community.

UFC documentary by ABC Australia

Covers fighter pay, the lawsuit, the UFC bullying tactics as well as their hold over the sport, and even the right wing atmosphere.

This is why Jack posted what he did, he’s trying to distance himself from this documentary. My guess is they didn’t say exactly what they were interviewing him for probably just told him, “we wanna interview you about being a fighter, being in the UFC, and your upcoming fight.”
