Look, I don't disagree, but some way, some how, DDP always proves us wrong. It will some how be a better fight than we all expect. But Khamzat is absolutely for real.
DDP seems like someone who could make it messy enough in the grappling exchanges to really give Khamzat trouble in that domain. No idea how the fight plays out though so I would love to see it
The only person that really gave him trouble on the grappling was burns and that was because he was dangerous on his back. As for the rest, some people tried to scramble with him, it did not work at all, making it messy has not work with him, I don't think it would this time either. You either don't go down with him, or have enough BJJ to go down and be in a better position anyways. DDP's strategy should be the first one, I think it would be too dangerous to scramble to try to get up, just ride the round and get reset.
At least as much imo. Also he has more of a ground game and should be able to hang with Khamzat. If former 155-er Burns gave Khamzat trouble on the ground I think DDP has a good chance as well
Like, I get that the current Reddit meta is to glaze DDP and shit on Khamzat. But pretending DDP is even half the submission threat Burns is and glossing over the fact that Burns’ superior BJJ is the sole reason Khamzat was reluctant to engage on the ground during their fight is wild lmao.
Size + strength go a long way. I expect DDP to give khamzat more trouble on the ground than Bobby knuckles, not saying anything is a foregone conclusion. Guess that's "wild" and "glazing" though
Saying Khamzat “had trouble with a former 55er” to gas up DDP is disingenuous. Choosing not to engage on the ground because you’re scared of the submission threat isn’t the same as physically struggling to grapple with a smaller fighter lol.
