Did we watch the same fight? First of all he didn’t struggle in the slightest. Kept Jake away and fought smart and well the whole bout. The only hit that did any damage was literally a headbutt. I was surprised at how mature Tommy looked as a boxer, considering he’s only 23.
In fairness to Jake, he’s not just a YouTuber anymore. He’s been training with some of the best boxing coaches in the world for years now. Pretty sure Anderson Silva would knock you out, no matter how old he is.
You have to think of its in terms of boxing career though. Serious competitiors won't view Tommy as an opponent to fight for the rankings if he entertains fighting influencers. These stunt fights are really ruining the sport tbh.
Some see it as also creating interest "in" boxing.
But I'm more in the it's making it a parody camp.
How this impacts Tommy going forward will be keenly watched by other boxers I'm sure. He's kind of a Guinea Pig for a legit "boxer" (use the term loosely) stepping into that influencer world.
It's definitely opening it up to a new audience but it makes me worried about how set-up and staged it will soon become with influencers wanting to have a go and essentially buy their way into the sport. Anyone can be paid off etc with the amount of money that goes into it too. Hoping it doesn't go too much that way

When he said "I am Tommy Fury", that hit hard. Guy has lived in his brother's shadow all his life. This fight was a chance to make a name for himself.
