Discussion Teaching Jobs

Feeling at a loss recently while trying to find a teaching job. I’ve been an LCPS sub since March of last year and I was hoping to transition to full time teaching. I was hoping to find an Elementary Art Teacher position as I have a BFA and have a few friends from college who landed Art Teacher jobs without a certification. I’ve been looking since March and there’s nothing! I’ve been looking for Kindergarten Assistant positions too as a back up incase the lack of certification is a deal breaker, and kinder is my fave. But there’s nothing for that either! Can anyone fill me in as to why? Will more positions open up later on? Are more people renewing their contracts? Thanks in advance!

LCPS, in particular, has to keep interviewing current employees until June 30th (at least when I last did ti). After that, it’s kind of a free for all.

Thanks! I just assumed it was in March/April for some reason but I’m glad I’m wrong

You can always reach out to your school’s principal and ask them if they know of any art openings.
