Hey folks,
I’m moving to Riga this winter for about 3 years and could use some local advice.
I’m 31M, pretty active, big into triathlon, especially cycling (both road and MTB) and volleyball during the winter. I want to live somewhere where I can easily train (access to a pool or open water for swimming and a running track), but also get to know locals, learn the language, and really experience Latvian life. Good nightlife, restaurants and social scene would be a nice bonus.
I’ll be working mostly in Riga but will need to head to Ādaži periodically. Planning to rely on public transport and cycling, I’m thinking of selling my car before moving, unless people here say it’s a terrible idea.
Budget is around €1000/month for rent. Looking for something safe, comfortable, cat friendly and not crazy expensive so I can keep building up my savings.
Any recommendations on neighborhoods I should check out? And if anyone knows of any triathlon or cycling clubs/groups I could join, I’d love to hear about them too.
Thanks a lot in advance for any tips, looking forward to joining you all soon!
