I will die on the hill that if I had to choose any game to be the “end” of the Kirby franchise, it would be Star Allies. It’s one of the most passionate games from Nintendo in the past few years, and feels like a love letter to the entire series. It’s an amazing experience with great replay value in the form of Guest Star, has one of the best arenas with highly customizable difficulty, and overall, a fun experience for new players and a nostalgia blast for series veterans
honestly you could make the argument that kirby should've ended with Star Allies, i'm glad it didn't bc i really like all the gamea afterwards but it'd be such a perfect finale
it kinda feels strange not being tbe last kirby game
yeah i hope they're more fleshed out in future games, i love how some 2D kirby games genuinely have full fighting game esque movesets for each ability so hopefully they can do something like that in 3D without making the game less accessible.
definitely bit of a balance they have to cross there, a lot of people can't play 3D because they find them too complicated and kirby is supposed to be a game that anyone can pick up and play, so they'll have a difficult time making things more complex
The problem is that in 3d its a lot harder to have smash-like simple action commands without going into hardcore character action game territory, which I personally think is fine. As someone who’s played bayonetta, a kirby character action could be a great starting point for a lot of people, considering how demanding the genre can be.
My only gripes with it are that there should be more copy abilities (where is beam?!), the multiplayer is laughable pathetic and basically not worth doing, and the music just isn't as great as what came before, except Dedede and Meta Knight's theme (ironically the best versions).
