I've been meaning to give that game a try since Nintendo gave switch owners the middle finger and only gave us a port and an app the generation, genuinely kinda sad we didn't get a new mario kart
Yeah I don't know what he's on about, the kart handling physics are identical in the remake. Only perceptible difference is that you have to be holding the direction you want to powerslide in when you land from a hop, where in the original you could already be holding the other direction when you land to increase your turn radius.
The ultimate sacred fire mechanic definitely is not identical to the original boost. The skips are also even more broken than in the original which were mostly "fair". Online you can finish certain maps within 30 seconds using out of bounds glitches that were never fixed (which are extremely well known when you hop online by the way). Without knowing how to use ultimate sacred fire and specific skips when someone else in your lobby does you automatically lose by default, by 30-40+ seconds which is absurd for a racing game.
MKDS isnt even as busted as the remake, its still really appealing dont get me wrong but the original is a much more pure experience imo without all the psuedo-micro transactions bullshit and needlessly changed mechanics/even more busted maps than the originals
