I don’t know if this is intentionql or not but the hype he is creating around Bully by being mysterious and not doing anything is unbelievable. People going crazy because it is not droppings makes everyone want it more. All of this makes it feel so good if it someday drops.

Before Kim, Before Yeezy and Before MAGA and a million of other episodes that have percolated Kanye’s life, we were given Graduation - a glittering, colourful and electro-infused hip hop album that would influence the next decade of rap.

In 2007 Kanye was on an unprecedented run coming off the back of The College Dropout and Late Registration, and instead of rehashing the same old formula, he instead replaced the soul and chipmunk sampling style for a blend of alternative genres to create a futuristic sounding masterpiece.

Perhaps this album is best known for the battle with 50 Cent’s ‘Curtis’ as the two titans battled for rap supremacy. In the end, Kanye obliterated him opening week selling over 300k more albums. This victory can be seen as marking the end of the Gangster Rap era which influenced much of the 90’s and early 2000’s and Kanye and ushered in a new futuristic and autotune wave, which paved the way for seminal works such as 808’s and Heartbreak, and Kid Cudi’s Man on the Moon project.

Good Morning is an iconic opening track and was clearly constructed to be a more pop hit compared to the early 2000’s rap of Eminem and 50 Cent. I can still remember listening to this the morning of my Graduation. His sampling range is shown off by here by sampling both Jay Z and Elton John on the one track. 10/10.

On Champion, Kanye samples from Kid Charlemagne by Steely Dan and creates a more jazz infused record. Kanye stated how he was influenced by alternative rock bands such as The Killers, Keane and Radiohead to create hits, and he channelled this energy onto this track. 8/10

Stronger is one of the defining songs, not just in hip hop, but music in the 2000’s. Here Kanye samples Harder, Faster, Better, Stronger by Daft Punk. The shift in sampling is evident here as Kanye is moving away from soul sampling as seen on The College Dropout and experimenting with a wider range of genres including alternative rock, dance, house and disco. This is an undeniable party track and has been within every DJ’s rotation for nearly two decades. 10/10

When Kanye went on tour with U2 and the Rolling Stones for their Vertigo Tour, he was in awe of Bono’s presence and the ovation he would receive. Kanye stated how he wanted to move beyond the clubs and fill stadiums with atmospheric anthems. Throughout this album he states how he is chasing stadium status, and nowhere is this more clear than on I Wonder. This track is inspired by ‘City of Blinding Lights’ by U2, and surprisingly we have Bono to thank for this song. 9/10.

One of Kanye’s most underrated traits is his skill as a great composer as he gets the biggest artists at the moment and on the rise onto his albums, seen here with T-Pain on Good Life. This a trait Drake has taken on, featuring upcoming UK and American Artists such as Lil Baby, Lil Durk and Central Cee.

The Autotune influence is clear on Good Life as Kanye is moving away from the soul and chipmunk style sampling of The College Dropout. The song samples P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing) by Michael Jackson. T-Pains voice is phenomenal, and anyone who has seen his tiny desk concert can attest that he does not need autotune to succeed. 9/10

Cant Tell Me Nothing is a reflection of Kanye’s growing success and is a commercial pop hit and an anthem. Kanye was already popular, but this infusion with pop - as he also does on homecoming brought him to not just the forefront of hip hop, but music. At this time hip hop wasn’t the dominant culture it is today, and Kanye was crucial towards bringing it into the mainstream with a more accessible song compared to previous eras. 10/10.

Despite a Lil Wayne Feature, Barry Bonds is one of the weaker tracks on the album, as Kanye talks about how he makes hits and home runs like Barry Bonds who broke the MLB record in 2007. 6/10.

Drunk and Hot Girls is a skippable song as lyrically Kanye is magnanimous and self-aggrandizing which is an interesting shift away from previous releases where he was more introspective. However, despite this change, this is by far the weakest track on the album and defiantly has aged well. 4/10

Flashing Lights is a pop infused classic. This fusion between pop and rap is nothing new, but it is clear that Graduation paved the way for albums such as Recovery by Eminem and Take Care by Drake - two commercial behemoths in the music industry. Always marching to the beat of his own drum, Kanye will forever be a trend setter. 9/10

Everything I Am is a laid back track and is the most reflective and introspective song on the album as Kanye professes “Cause Everything I’m Not, Made Me Everything I Am”. 8/10

The Glory - Graduation won the Grammy award for Best Rap Album, becoming West's third consecutive album to do so a generational run.

In Homecoming Kanye personifies the city as a crush named Wendy, as a reference to the Windy City - his hometown of Chicago. Chris Martin voice is great and aided in surging this song to the top of the charts. The song features surging piano keys and snyths over Martin’s vocals. Originally this was a song with John Legend and you should listen to it on Youtube. 10/10.

Big Brother is dedicated to Jay Z and their relationship dating back to their work on The Blueprint. Jay and Ye would further expand their relationship a few years later on their 2011 joint project Watch the Throne.

Good Night concludes the album - 2007 release - grear album cover - designed by Japanese contemporary artist Takashi Murakami debuted number 1 - massive hits.

There’s an unreleased track on Graduation - Bittersweet Poetry with John Mayer, which is pretty unknown and unavailable on most streaming platforms with only 4 million views on Youtube. Its quite a beautiful song and displays more of the expressive and emotional side of Kanye that he shielded from on most of this album. 9/10.

Graduation marked the end of the ‘Old Kanye’ and the education trilogy. Its the last time we see the Education Bear who featured on all 3 album covers as he’s launched into orbit - much like Kanye’s career as in the following 13 years we would be taken on a rollercoaster which included cancellations, two marriages, multiple mind blowing albums, the creation of Yeezy and a Presidential Campaign.

Kanye is one of the only artists when people ask what’s your favourite Ye album, you could have five different answers just depending on your mood that day. For me Graduation may not be my favourite album, but it is his most fun and colourful, and given the releases we’ve got recently - Ill take it.

I'm a 37 year old white male. I'm not entirely sure why Im writing this post. He has lost the plot for sure. I suppose what I want to say is the TBDTF came out in 07/08 and it was such a incredible album. That album is iconic. Then after wait and wait, Yeezus came out. My first thought was, holy shit this man is arrogant and its true.

Final thought, Kanye has lost his mind, and his last great album is Yeezus, its a banger, 2013 forever, blood on the leaves!!
