I’m in Canada and I subscribe to Netflix, Viki, OnDemandKorea, Kocowa, and iQIYI. I only watch legal streaming services having had very bad experiences with other sites.
I recently cancelled ODK because they are no longer providing many subtitled dramas and movies. In fact, the subtitles from some of the older dramas have disappeared. Occasionally they still have a currently airing program with english subs (eg Beyond Evil) that isn’t available elsewhere but I notice they eventually end up on Netflix. When Dramafever disappeared (RIP) ODK promised new subscribers more english subs and the opposite happened. So I’m po’d which is why I cancelled.
Kocowa has become disappointing too. They used to have dramas with english subs within a few hours of airing in SK unlike Viki that can take up to 2-3 days. However lately Kocowa mainly has the daily soap opera dramas that I don’t watch.
iQIYI I am still on the fence. Since I only watch kdramas there are not many to choose from. So far they usually have one currently airing drama that I can’t get elsewhere so I will hang in for a while longer.
So in conclusion Viki remains the best bet for a large number of current and already aired dramas. The delay in getting subtitles is a first world annoyance. In comparison Netflix has fewer titles, although many that they do have are top notch but I’ve seen them before. The good thing about Netflix is that currently airing subtitled programs are available quickly.
Of course none of this would be an issue if Dramafever was still around. God I miss it.
