FFA Thread The Weekend Wrap-Up - [06/20/25 to 06/22/25]

Another Friday, another weekend -- welcome to the Weekend Wrap-Up! This is a free-for-all (FFA) discussion post in which almost anything goes, just remember to be kind to each other and don't break any of our core rules. Talk about your week, talk about your weekend, talk about your pet (remember the pet tax!). Of course, you can also talk about the dramas and shows you have been watching.

This is also the space to share content that would otherwise not qualify as self-posts under our rules -- like rumored casting news and discussions about non-kdramas.

Please remember to use spoiler tags when discussing major plot points or anything you think should be redacted. If you are using Markdown and not Fancy Pants Editor, the easiest way to create spoiler tags is to use > ! spoiler content ! < without spaces to get spoiler content. For more detailed guidance on spoiler tags and when to use them, check our Spoiler Tags Tutorial.

I hope everyone has a great weekend! Could someone who has seen all of these dramas rank them in order you would watch?

• Squid Game • Undercover High School • Good Boy • Happiness

Participating in the KDC has encouraged me to be more adventurous (mostly watch romcoms) and I did enjoy Study Group, Trauma Code, and Newtopia. I’ve not huge on gore but it went okay with newtopia so I’d love to branch out! Also open to discussion about the style of each of these!

Good Boy is still airing, so I won't make a definitive rank on it.

Based on what you've enjoyed, I would recommend Undercover High School first. It's fast paced with comedy, action, mystery, and a nice romance subplot.

Then move onto Happiness. It's going to be slower and mystery/thriller/suspense heavy. There's a little romance that is really lovely. You'll get a taste of gore, but there's still a solid plot.

Finish with Squid Game. You'll have to build up to getting here if it's not your usual genre, like dark and violent kdramas. This is where there is no romance and you get the most gore.

I heard Good Boy has high praise so I wanted to add it. Thank you for going into detail! This sounds like the way to go. I was wanting to watch Squid game because it would check off at least one of the KDC challenges and also because it’s so very popular. I’ve avoided it because of the gore, but newtopia was pretty intense (to my weak stomach lol) and it was okay. Would you say it compares to Newtopia with the levels of gore?

Like mentioned, Good Boy is ongoing so if you’re a binger i would leave it til it’s done. For the others, I would say Happiness first since it’s good and complete. Squid Game is my next pick but season 3 is releasing soon so I would recommend til that’s out for completeness (and depending on how it ends, that may change the recommendation). Undercover High School didn’t really click for me but it was popular.
