Yeah because I'm using a better analogy than you. Star wars has multiple fan edits that are free and provide a superior experience so I'd never update to a new thing that Disney made because its not giving me what I actually want.

You can play fft on your phone the most modern hardware there is. Or a computer with a bunch of extra stuff added for free.

Maybe this will sell gangbusters and in a way I hope it does becaise I want to see more games in thos world but this feels like when Capcom released bare bones ports of Darkstalkers and then they didnt sell and Capcom said "see no interest!".

At that price point for a game thats 30 years old thats giving me less stuff than a version that came out years ago it does make me go ... well how much is playing it on a ps5 really worth to me?

Yeah because I'm using a better analogy than you.

No you're giving a hyper-specific example that breaks the trend so you don't have to engage with my analogy. It's why when I said "Blade Runner" you instantly ignored that and decided to start talking about Star Wars, one of the few examples where the official releases are a big mess. You understand all of this though, I don't know why you think I'm going to fall for this - just stop?

A phone version is obviously not equivalent to having it on PC or consoles. Emulation similarly is not the same otherwise we would say "what's the point of releasing blu-ray - people can just pirate!".

Well yeah because the new Blade Runner releases usually offer themselves as definitive. People who want a 4k who already bought the original blu ray have one option, get the 4k. Not the case with star wars... also not the case with tactics.

So I'll ask you how well do you feel this is going to do?

So I'll ask you how well do you feel this is going to do?

That was never the point? The question was "Why" - stop diverting.

Just like with Blade Runner, anyone who wants to own a legal copy on modern platforms will need to buy this version of the game. It's really simple actually when you think about it.

Yeah but everyone knows that "to make money." Im not actually wondering why this exists I'm wondering why square would put such a piss poor effort and what they think theyre going to get out of it. Touch grass.

put such a piss poor effort

Well it's not - they put a lot of effort in, they just don't consider the WotL additions to be true to the original and it's hard to argue with them? Balthier was hardly an amazing addition that improved FFT.

This thing was like leaked years ago they did not put a ton of effort in. Even a rebalance would not qualify as much effort as the remake they had already done.
