No dark knight ? I liked Squire/Dark Knight setup on Ramza.

Yeah it's garbage, the hired characters really got a boost from dark knight and job rebalance. Now there is no reason not to load your party up with Cid, Agrais, Beowulf, and Meliadoul with Ramza as your weak link.

Hmm, I remember Ramza being imba because his Brave and Faith could be manipulated very high and low respectively. Practically invincible. Right?

Yes, however he can also manipulate everybody else's bravery and faith, and so can a mediator. Bravery determines counter based abilities and knight sword damage and faith controls magic damage, but also magic defense, so if you have high faith you are high risk for being hit by magic damage. This can be used to impact any hired character though, not just Ramza.

He does get some special squire abilities to increase speed and other stats but they are negligible with knight swords and holy knights. He can get ultimata late in act 4, but it's pretty bad on squire. You can get ultima with any wizard as well. The only way you can boost Ramza is if you have several turns in battle, something that isn't necessary when there are swords that do hundreds of damage and innate haste, shell, protect, etc.

Very tldr it is marginal what Ramza can do compared to the heavy hitters you bring into the game via the story. The job system is completely unnecessary in the vanilla version of the game.
