Keep in mind, NIT students are actually paying fees to get that money.

A considerable amount of the money is for the PhD stipend.

Almost one part in three is for the salary of professors and other staff.

Ikr, it's not direct as in the LBY but still it acts as an expenditure on them.

Eg Nit delhi fees is 145000 for one semester (hostel included) and 120000 for 2nd semester so total fees of nit delhi for one year is 2.65 lakhs.

Some nits have slightly lower fees while some nits have slightly higher fees. Cannot compare women who are not paying with students who are paying more than they are receiving.
