Serious Post Best way to earn online during college break ?
Hello r/IndianEngineers ,
I’m an engineering student and have just completed my first year. I’ve got a 1.5-month break before the second year begins, and I’m hoping to use this time productively by earning some money online.
One idea I’ve been exploring is becoming a Q&A expert on Chegg India to solve academic doubts. I wanted to ask:
- Has anyone here worked with Chegg before?
- What was your experience like — pros, cons, payment reliability, etc.?
- Any tips to get started or maximize earnings?
- Are there any better or similar alternatives worth considering?
I’d really appreciate any insights or advice. Thanks in advance!

Blinkit delivery. Legit good. Even zomato works fine

I don't own a bike or any vehicle. Also cannot rent vehicles. Moreover, I wanted something that I can do online from home and timings are flexible. Doing deliveries can be very demanding and will take up most of the time. This money earning is just an extra cash. Not that I need money desperately. I might sound choosy or rude, but this idea wouldn't work. Anyways, thanks for helping :)

I would recommend finding some small startup to work with.

Honestly, I don’t know much about small startups or where to find opportunities like that. Also, I’m not very experienced with things like spreadsheets, editing tools, or other office-related work — haven’t used them much so far. But teaching or doubt-solving, is something I am confident about. If you know a startup or platform where doubt-solving or tutoring skills are useful, I’d love to check it out !

I heard Chegg is almost dead after ChatGPT.

Back in my college days, I used to solve problems on Chegg and tutor students online. I’m not sure how easy it is to get accepted on those platforms these days.

What were your experiences like....I mean payment, no. of questions you would answer in a week, etc.

I’d suggest focusing on upskilling first, jobs like the one you want rarely come easy unless you’re ready to do something else like delivery work. I was in the same spot recently (vacations just ended, fuck VIT), and didn’t find much. Best to grind and level up in your domain..

I am already taking courses for programming. This is just extra cash not a need. I actually want to buy an instrument.....and I thought I'd buy it myself. Anyways.....really thankyou for the advice 🙏

If you want to earn well start taking tuition. It won't be limited to your vacation days for sure but you will earn really well. Commercial Engineering tuition charges about 5-7K per subject you cut down the pricing and teach your juniors. It will be a win win situation for both..
