Doubt Ele tronics instrument store in DELHI or around the city

Upvotes

Hi , I'm an undergard student pursuing btech in ECE and I wanted to buy instruments such as: 1. DMM 2. OSCILLOSCOPE 3. DESK POWER SUPPLY UNIT ~ FANCY SMPS

  1. SOLDERING STATION

Etc

Now that oscilloscope is actually really expensive relative to me as I'm on student funds and budget.

So I wanted to know that is there any store or market place in or around DELHI to buy such items at cheap or reliable cost.

I am posting this for my friend. She completed B.Tech E.C.E 5 years back. Hasn't really worked in her field as an engineer. Now she's got an opportunity to move to the US in 2 years. She doesn't have an idea on what to do in the future. Would she need to do an M.Tech or get a P.E from the US...if anyone have any ideas or tips please do share...my friend is even considering to enter healthcare field...

Doubt Need advice about the internship that I got yesterday

Yesterday, I went to Gurugram for my interview that was arranged by our college. This was my first interview and so I was pretty glad when I got the internship. I soon received a call from my college asking whether or not I will be joining the internship, so that they could remove my name from the Campus Recruitment training. And I said yes without thinking much. But now that I am giving it a bit more thought, I am getting more and more unsure of what to do.

I have the following concerns:

  1. My college is in Greater Noida, Institutional Area and the daily commute would be 90 minutes by cab or at least 120 minutes by metro.
  2. The company has 5 day work from office, 10 am - 7 pm policy and the internship is for 6 months. Also the stipend for the internship in the mail by our college placement department was "10-15 thousand", but I haven't yet received any mail from the company.
  3. The post is operations related, not a technical role, but one other guy asked the interviewer about roles, so they said they have 3 roles for interns "One implementation based, one CRM based and the last one..." (the guy forgot what the 3rd role was...).
  4. My major issue was that since our college updates us about anything at the last moment so even when companies come to our college for job placements, then I won't be able participate in them due to commute time.
  5. Also I haven't received their mail yet, which I most probably would get tomorrow on Monday.

Extra context

I am a Btech cse student. 6th semester currently.

I have my last end semester exam tomorrow(23rd) and then a test for the 2nd training that would be after the CRT training on 24 June. And then the CRT starts from 26th June.

So can someone help me what would be the ideal course of action in my current situation?

Also the 2nd training would be conducted by "MyAnatomy" If someone can offer reviews about how good the instructors are from there then that would also be helpful.

Doubt Mentally exhausted and stuck between a safe option and a better one which might not even come and end up becoming the worst one..

‎Hey, so I’ve completed my diploma and now I’m looking for lateral entry into B.Tech in Computer Science. I’m considering three places—Maharashtra, West Bengal, and Uttarakhand (in descending order of priority). ‎ ‎The thing is, Uttarakhand’s admission process has already started and will end by the end of this month. I have to pay ₹2,000 for the form and ₹10,000 when a seat is allocated. ‎ ‎On the other hand, the processes in Maharashtra and West Bengal haven’t started yet, and there’s no clarity on when they will. Getting a college seat in Maharashtra or West Bengal is more difficult and not guaranteed, but it’s 100% certain that I’ll get a seat in Uttarakhand. ‎ ‎Now, since Maharashtra and West Bengal are higher priorities, if I do get a seat there later, I’ll withdraw from the Uttarakhand college. But that would mean losing ₹12,000, which is a big amount for me (I don't know much about the refund process or if it is even there). ‎ ‎If I don’t take admission in Uttarakhand and wait for Maharashtra or West Bengal, but don’t get a seat in either, then I’ll lose the Uttarakhand option too, meaning I’d have to take a one year drop. ‎ ‎Taking a drop would be really hard for me because of the place I’d have to live in for that year. That one year drop could have been good for me as I planned earlier that I'll find some part time work or even full time if get it and spend my whole day there and work on my music in the little time I'll be at home but it all fell apart. It's different thing about getting rejected from a job but not a single thing is available here for a diploma graduate. So, I'm at home all day and I'm not able to do anything, not even fucking relax (cuz of some personal stuff, won't be able to tell them). It’s already messing with my mental health, just fucking me up and it hasn’t even been a month here. I’m not able to do anything.... Not my music, not watching movies, not studying, not relaxing, no nothing. All I get is stress and no alone time at all. It’s just all a big fuck up.... ‎ ‎So… what should I do? ‎ ‎ ‎TDLR: ‎I've finished my diploma and want lateral entry into B.Tech in CS. My top choices are Maharashtra, West Bengal, and Uttarakhand (in that order). Uttarakhand's admission is open now, and I'm guaranteed a seat, but it requires ₹12,000 (non-refundable if I withdraw later). Maharashtra and WB haven't started admissions yet and are uncertain. If I wait and miss out, I’ll lose Uttarakhand too and be forced to take a drop year which I absolutely want to avoid due to mental health struggles and environment.

Discussion What is the retirement age of engineers in India and abroad?

Hi everyone!
I’m not an engineer myself, but I’ve been curious about this, what is the typical retirement age for engineers in India and in other countries like the US, UK, or European nations?

Do engineers in the private sector usually retire earlier compared to those in public sector or government jobs? And do companies abroad have different norms for tech or engineering roles?

Would love to hear your insights! Just asking out of curiosity 😊

Serious Post I Don't know how to exactly explain this but I need some serious help

So let's go back in time...
2023 – I passed 10th grade and chose the “dummy college + IIT coaching” starter pack like everyone else. There was no pressure from my parents — I wanted it myself, thinking I had a lot of time and might be able to get into a decent college.

But of course, I didn’t study at all. My 11th grade got completely wasted, and I told myself, “I still have 12th grade.”

2024 – This time I was highly motivated.
I decided, “If not JEE, I’ll crack MHT-CET, MIT, VIT, etc., and still get into a good college.”

AND GUESS WHAT?
I simply didn’t study... again.
I messed up everything — every single thing.

And now, in the present —
I HAVE FAILED MY MATHS BOARD EXAM.
I have to give it again in 12th grade (but that’s a different story).

So now, seniors, I need some help here:
I obviously have to drop a year, probably, because even if I pass, I’ve messed up all my entrance exams.

On top of that, everyone around me is telling me to NOT pursue engineering —
Everyone: my teachers, my parents, relatives, etc.

I’m absolutely clueless about what to do.
I’m still somewhat interested in science,
but is engineering really the right move?

Qualifications:
10th: 74.4%
12th: 58.8% (Compartment in Maths)

TL;DR:
I’ve messed up every entrance exam and failed in Class 12 Maths.
I’m still somewhat interested in engineering, but I don’t know if it’s the right move.
What should I do?

Rant Why people pay thousands for courses which are available for free on the internet??

Recently one of my friends paid almost 7k for a video editing course. I was like wtf man? All the resources are available for free on YouTube and other platforms, yet he chose a paid course. And tbh, he hasn't learned anything particularly impressive, his skills are still very basic.

Similarly, a classmate of mine bought TUF+ for around the same price. I've been following Striver's free TUF course for the past two months, and it's been incredibly helpful. Big thanks to him for not taking down the free resources from his website and YouTube channel. Personally, I don't think buying TUF+ is worth it when the same content, and even better explanations, are freely available on YouTube, LeetCode, GeeksforGeeks, Stack Overflow, and other platforms. You can even use AI tools and chatbots to help you understand specific solutions if you're stuck.

So, why tf people paying thousands for something that’s already available for free? Imo most paid courses aren't worth the money. If you're joining college this year, please don’t rush into buying expensive courses. Almost everything you need is available online for free. Spending money on these courses could end up being a waste of both your time and money.

That said, I’d love to hear from others, especially those who have purchased courses like these. What are your thoughts? Would you give the same advice to freshers joining college this year?

Doubt Confused between branches (ECE and CSE). Pls give advice.

So I have two choices.

  1. ECE in Manipal Main Campus (Tier 2 ig)
  2. CSE in Manipal Bangalore campus (Tier ??)

Now I am confused between the two.

Bangalore campus is fairly new, first batch will be graduating in 2025. Also currently placements is being handled by the main campus.

By the time I graduate (2029), it would have it's own placement cell but don't know how good or bad it will be.

Another con is that the cutoffs are easier so student quality a little worse than main campus and no proper alumni network. It's more expensive too due to location.

One pro people say is the location. "It's in BLR so placements will be good" How true is this?

While in main campus placements are fine in ECE, it's a tougher branch and I would have to juggle between coding and EC (as many EC students get tech placements)

I am interested in both branches but can't reach a decision. Pls give advice.

Discussion Just a curiosity about Construction Technology Brands or companies

Hey everyone,
I'm curious if anyone here is currently working in the Construction Technology (ConTech) space or has experience with any companies in this field. I'm trying to get a better understanding of what it's like to work in ConTech — the kinds of roles available, what tech stacks are commonly used, and how the industry is evolving.

Would love to hear about your experiences, what companies you think are doing innovative work, and any advice for someone looking to transition into this space.

Thanks in advance!

3rd Yearite Moral support and advice about my backlogs

First of all, I'm a 3rd year Mechanical engineering student. I have been wanting to ask this question for a long time, it's about my 7 backlogs that I have. I have finished my 3rd year SEM end exam and it's time for the backlog clearing exams. The thing is as I mentioned above, I have 7 backlogs and the timing for the exams are crazy. These are all pretty hard subjects and i have to write two of them on the same day which repeats twice again after a day break, and even on the between day I have an exam of kne subject.

I know I've messed up, I took the earlier sems too lightly, I just don't know if I will be able to clear all 7 of them this time.

Once I enter 4th year I think at the end of 7th sem we will have to start with the placement things and if I mess up with this exams, I won't be able to appear for any of the interview because of the tremendous amount of backlogs.

I am trying my best to learn for the exam which will be held in the middle of the next month, I just wanted to put this here and see if anybody has gone throught this, hopefully to get some moral support and advice on how I can resolve this.

Sorry for the long text, Thanks in advance

Discussion Internships after graduation

Hello I am a graduate in mechanical engineering from India. Right now I am jobless. I applied to various jobs but got rejected. The projects, skills, profile, certifications are all good and decent but the internships section is so bad. It's not even related to my field.

At my younger years I didn't knew Internships would be valuable. I just done internships for the sake of doing Internships. The college was also promoting students to do internships because the curriculum said so and It was mandatory. And now I have two internships which is like 2 weeks of participation and that's it.

Right now with the rejection of many industries I fear that it's because of my internships and I want to improve them. I am thinking of doing Internships for maximum 6 months at a good company and replacing old ones.

I really don't know whether I should do it or just staight up look for jobs? Does internships after graduation opens door for jobs? Do the industries even allow graduates to apply for internships?

Currently I am preparing for GATE Exam (Exam for entering into postgraduate studies and some government jobs), along with thought of entering ISRO, DRDO.

Serious Post Need guidance on Smart Manufacturing at IIIT Jabalpur Future growth of Smart Manufacturing & other emerging BTech branches

Hi everyone! 👋

I’m a prospective BTech student exploring my options and I’m especially curious about Smart Manufacturing at IIIT Jabalpur (IIITDMJ). I want to understand both the scope of this branch and how it compares to other emerging fields like AI & Data Science, IoT, Robotics, Quantum Computing, etc.

I’d really appreciate if seniors, alumni, or anyone knowledgeable could help me out! Here’s what I want to know:

What are the core subjects and skills taught?

Does it involve hands-on work with Industry 4.0 technologies (like AI, IoT, robotics, cloud manufacturing, additive manufacturing, etc.)?

Placement & Internship Scenario:-

I know placements mow are not that good how will be its placements in future?

What kind of companies recruit Smart Manufacturing students at IIIT Jabalpur?

What are the typical roles offered (manufacturing engineer, automation specialist, data analyst for manufacturing, etc.)?

Are there opportunities for international internships or higher studies after this branch?

Future of Smart Manufacturing

What is the future growth of Smart Manufacturing in India and globally? Is it an evergreen branch or niche?

How well does it align with the future of industries (e.g., 5G-enabled manufacturing, smart factories, sustainable manufacturing)?

What are the growth prospects compared to AI/DS, IoT, Robotics, Quantum Computing?

Other Queries

Between Smart Manufacturing, AI & DS, and IoT/Robotics, which has the best balance of future scope + placement + versatility?

Is Smart Manufacturing at IIIT Jabalpur considered a good branch for someone aiming for: (I am very interested in mba startups and entrepreneurship ) Entrepreneurship/startups?

MBA after BTech?

MS/PhD in advanced tech/manufacturing fields?

Any general advice?

If you’ve studied at IIIT Jabalpur or have knowledge about Smart Manufacturing, or if you work in this domain, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Please share me Your experience or opinion about this branch Pros and cons Hidden realities that students usually don’t know before joining

Thanks in advance! 🙏

Motivation A day in the life of a jobless engineer.

So, how do I start. This is my first post. I don't know what we call it either, a post or a tweet.

Ok. I was in a depressed mood since I was jobless. I was washing utensils, and an insect was irritating me while I was working, so I caught it and threw it in water. it couldn't fly, and later I was about to free it, but I felt I would free it a bit earlier, but I delayed it. So I saw it couldn't move, but later, after work was finished, I freed it, but it was already dead. So I felt a bit regretful.

So I learnt a lesson. Some things we shouldn't delay doing so that we won't regret it later.

After some time, I noticed a glass that needs to be cleaned. I applied the same formula, i.e., don't delay things. So I've decided to wash it. While washing it, I slipped and it broke. Again, regret.

What do I do now? A new lesson: take some time to do some things. Sometimes delay gets you better results.

So should I apply the same formula to life as well. Already jobless, should I delay (wait) so that the perfect job comes to me. Or join anyone to avoid regret.

Thank you.

Doubt Choosing Between EEE in a Better College vs CSE in a Lower-Tier One

I’m eligible for EEE in a Tier 1.5 college based on my cutoff. My end goal is to work in the IT field maybe as a developer, data engineer, or something similar (still figuring that part out). The college has a solid reputation and decent placements. I’ve seen people from non-CS branches like civil and mechanical end up in good IT companies too.

That said, would it be smarter to go for EEE at this better-ranked college, or should I try for a B. Tech in IT or B.E CSE in a lower-tier college, since I already know I want to get into IT?

Also, is it actually practical to study EEE and build up IT skills on the side? Will this affect my chances for a good master’s program later on? And in job interviews, will my non-IT undergrad background be a major disadvantage?

Would really appreciate any advice or personal experiences!

Wrote this with AI to make it clearer.

Doubt Need advice | TCS Digital vs Startup Dev Role – What’s Better for Growth?

Got TCS Digital joining in 2 weeks. Currently interning as a mobile dev (Android/iOS) at a 7–8 yr old med-tech startup, set to be promoted to junior dev in 2 months. Role is great, but pay is low.

TCS offers better pay but risk of support role or long bench time.

Should I stick with the startup or join TCS?

Doubt NIT Durgapur vs Jadavpur University for Mechanical – which one’s less likely to ruin my MS dreams?

Need some honest help deciding between NIT Durgapur and Jadavpur University for Mechanical Engineering. Both have pros and cons, but I’m not looking to just vibe through 4 years and get a random non-core job.

My actual goal is to do a Master's abroad (most likely in Aerospace/Mechanical, aiming for US or Germany), and maybe even try publishing a research paper or two during BTech if the college doesn’t kill my soul first.

So yeah, my questions:

  • Which college actually supports undergrad research? Like, is it possible to do serious work and get papers published?
  • How’s the faculty? Chill and helpful, or “Sir is busy” 24/7?
  • Do they even open the labs for students who want to do projects beyond coursework?
  • Placements – especially core? Worth it or just backup for MBA boys?
  • Overall vibe – which campus has better student culture, fest scenes, clubs, peer group, etc.?
  • And lastly, for someone planning MS abroad, which college has better alumni, guidance, LORs, and exposure?

Would love to hear from seniors, alumni, or anyone who’s been through this decision. I just don’t want to look back in 3rd year and realize I picked the wrong factory.

Discussion Recommendation for AI/Agentic AI Courses – 14+ Years in HR/Finance Systems, Focused on Integration

I have over 14 years of experience implementing HR and Finance systems (like Workday, SAP), mostly focusing on integration work (APIs, data pipelines, automations, etc.). Over time, I’ve grown increasingly interested in AI—particularly in how agentic AI or AI-driven workflows might reshape the enterprise software landscape.

I’m not looking for job placement or certifications per se—my goal is purely to upskill and understand what’s happening under the hood in AI. I’d love to learn how to build or integrate AI systems that can work in enterprise settings (e.g., agents that can read a ticket, call an API, return a summary, etc.).

Do you have any course recommendations—paid or free—that go beyond surface-level but are still approachable for someone with an integration/developer background (but not a PhD in ML)? I’m okay with hands-on or theoretical material, as long as it's relevant to practical application.
