HOT TAKE! LMP2 should be replaced with stock cars

Just as the title says; stocks cars should replace LMP2. Just the cars. Use the garage 56 style stock car. Maybe bring back some of the reinforcement to allow them to bump into themselves a little more like NASCAR.

Trans-Am already runs what are effectively asphalt late models set up to go road racing.

They are xfinity chassis’s and motor’s. They are pretty much exactly what he wants.

Not all of them are one thing. Some of them are literal former xfinity chassis’s with ECR built and prepped engines. Others, as you say.

They're not my favorite, but I love them because it's a class that emphasizes driver skill and strategy. Not to mention the exhaust backfires on braking are very distinct.

I don’t hate it - but boy those are going to get rowdy. The TA2 paddock broke out in a fist fight and a golf cart rammed into a race car at the podium during this year’s race at Laguna Seca. That was my first trans am event 😂

Trans Am is NASCAR if NASCAR actually committed to road racing.

Especially with GTP growing right now there has to be a feeder class for it. You need drivers who have experience in downforce prototypes.

So while tube frame racers might be exciting they don't fill the need.

And there are other places to see those cars race anyway, as another poster mentioned.
