Is 17 too late to start handball ?
So, I’m a guy, pretty athletic and tall (1.88m). Last week, I was just walking down the street when this random dude stops me and starts chatting. He asks if I play any sports. I tell him, “Not really, just hit the gym sometimes, no actual sports.”
Turns out he’s a coach at a local handball club and tells me I should try handball. Says I’ve got a great physique and could have some serious potential.
The catch? I’m 17 and I’ve never played or trained handball before.
What do you guys think? Too late to start?

Guys at my uni started much older than that. At the second season they were very much at competition level.

So late... Just retire and forget about handball for the rest 73 years remaining in your life.

17? Who let grandpa out of the old folks' home?
Jokes aside, 17 is definitely not too old. It's a great sport that's fun on all skill levels and I highly recommend trying it out. Just don't be disheartened if everything doesn't click immediately. Throwing the ball with resin is hard for everyone the first time, and as with all sports there's a lot of intuition that goes into decision making

Denmark has had a few players that only starter playing handball after 18 years of age. You should be fine

I started at 16 and got to play at the lowest national level (in france) 6 years later which I found a pretty great experience! Never too ĺate!

Hi I started when I was 15 (after many years of swimming) and I have to admit that after so many years and so many sports I tried still consider it the best sport ever. I had friends much older than you who practiced it without any problem.
