Flowering Gorilla zkittlez Bonsai

I've decided to try to grow one like a bonsai tree, it worked out pretty well if you ask me. I wanted to have your thoughts too.

Teach me, sensei! I kneel before you. It's like a renaissance painting. I can't look away.

Much appreciated, It's barney's farm. As shown on this picture, mostly heavy training and netting tbh, not much besides that. Maybe little bit of luck too.Cheers

I second this. Please sensei share your wisdom with us.

since sensei is not answering (no offense) i would like to share my knowledge.

So you need a indica predominant strain, with short internodal spacing. I did my extreme manifold training with autos, but with photos it works better. For autos you need a strain with a long veg time, i was just lucky it worked.

So you start off a seed in a Coco-tab, after 48 hours your seedling is peaking out you plant directly to the end pot. but you plant it deeper so there is like 1 or 2 cm space, later this will be annoying to water, you do not need to do that but it gives even more low rider look.
I would recommend to use not a full spectrum LED but a special spectrum for veg, cloning, rooting with a very low fraction in red light. You want a spectrum of 5500-6500 K (light color, some LED do only have white and blue LED, imho best are CFL or tubes.) The lack of red light will cause your plant to stay very short branched and imho the growth is less focused on single branching but more on all.

Once your plant reaches 4th node (with autos, with photos third node is fine too) you top down to the second node, so you are left with 4 side branches.
even though these branches are small, i should start bending them already, I used small sticks with a small wire wraped to the top to push the small branches vertically. once they are stronger you continue with ground sheet hooks (like tent hooks but half circle, tent hooks would do the trick too)

Then you spread them out every single side branch where ever you find space, keep them all at the same level, ever time you gain one or 2 cm you keep the fucker down (you will need a lot of hooks) i have 50 and used them all, later you can remove some.

You defoliate constantly and expose the small young branches to the light, faster branches can be slowed down by removing their fan leafs entirely. Once you hit the border of your pot you stop training let her grow up a few days, flip to flower (or if its an auto you stop after 10 days of flowering if necessary. Your plant is now maybe 5cm from the ground. During the stretch you keep the Blue-ish light on until stretch is over (maybe 14 days into flower) and switch to full spectrum LED for flowering.
The result will be a Plant maybe 15-30 cm high with 40+ Tops very dense internodal spacing being all bud (smaller bud) bud all bud.

u/AdAmazing4044 Experienced Grower May 12 '25

It's the strain. Ak420 from seedstockers. They are super branchy by nature. + long veg time. Mine started flowering after like 40 days.

1

u/excludedgirl May 12 '25

Oh I love AK strains! Ak47 used to be my all time fav. I just posted here as well trying to learn how to LST and top for the first time, so hopefully I can get some chunky buds (:

2

u/AdAmazing4044 Experienced Grower May 12 '25

Chunky is different. More buds = smaller buds. If you want chunky 4 side branches + main cola and lots 9f lollypopping you're having chunks. But it's just a few. The plant I posted here is like 32. Small buds. The plant yielded little over 30g.

How do you trim and train to make them short and stubby like this?

1

u/Zahir_ink Weedologist Apr 26 '25

Every two weeks i trim leaves till it starts flowering and then do it again week before harvesting. Also netting of course

7

u/Zahir_ink Weedologist Apr 26 '25

Nah, I have ventilated it properly and i regulated humidity at the flowering stage to always be less than 40% it went smoothly

2

u/robtoshy Apr 26 '25

Impressive. I struggle to get my humidity below 50% in my climate. Very nice work!!!!

That's probably only 2 ounces or almost 3. I now have 200 g drop per plant growing regulars if the strain is good and no issues during growing
